Just when you think you've seen it all ...

The day is Sunday, July 6. The time, 7:04 a.m.

A resident of Carraway Street calls the Tallahassee Police Department. Unknown suspects have gotten drunk and forked all over the neighborhood.

Officer Brad Smith, badge no. 601, arrives on scene.

Evidence is everywhere. Forks, hundreds of forks.

White plastic utensils have been stuck in the grass, to a lamppost, even to a burglar alarm sign.That's not all. "We found multiple other yards which had been forked," Smith reports. "Multiple road signs also were forked in the area." Officers are stumped. Is it a gang initiation? A satanic ritual? Witnesses are rounded up. They provide a tip.

A neighbor on Hawthorne Street has large parties. "Forkings occur afterward," Smith reports.

Police approach cautiously. They corner three suspects - a mother, her adult son and her adult daughter. The suspects confess.

"Petr had a 25th birthday party with about 45-50 guests and a lot of alcohol," Smith reports.

Just as officers suspected - inebriation. "They stated it is a prank that they sometimes do when they are drunk," Smith reports. "Suspects stated they would clean up the forks.

"They were warned about the ramifications of future pranks." Contacted at his home in San Diego - where he has recently moved - suspect Petr Kubik laughs. "They were looking for all kinds of dark and horrible things in it," he states. "But it was just a fun gag to do."

We have a friend whose accent makes it sound like "fork you!" Man is that funny when he gets angry--so hard to take it seriously and not laugh in his face.

2. I love a good prank...

what makes it even better is the notion that it was a 'satanist' thing!

No matter what happens, no matter how benign, there are always those looking for some strange explanation. Perhaps, those people should realize that there are people out there that just like to have a little fun.

In looking for explanations, we would do ourselves credit to remember KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid.
