|
Esp. with the Faces. Once he "went Hollywood," however....yeeesh!

4. He did a terrific job on vocals for Jeff Beck. |

I voted for Chicago, though. Chicago II was one of the great albums of rock music. The eventual ascendence of Peter Cetera doomed the band within a few years from that, culminating with disco albums (and I might mention disco albums that weren't even as merely mediocre as Stewart), but in 1970 Chicago had the foot of jazz music in the AOR door.

17. I agree about Rod.... |
|
I think "Atlantic Crossing" was when he crossed the bridge into mediocrity. "With DoYa Think I'm Sexy" he burned that bridge, as far as any interest from me was concerned...

2. I used to love Elton...before that unfortunate eminem incident... |
|
now Sir Reginald Dwight can just disappear, as far as I'm concerned. But in the 70's, there was nobody better.

15. 'Took Elton, but with a qualifier -- |
|
-- that the vote is for the early work with Bernie Taupin. Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water knocked me out. Fine, fine music and lyrics both.
I don't begrudge Elton his more recent commercial successes, but they don't have the pathos and the bite of those earlier recordings.
