Just Got Home From an R.E.M. Concert and Have to Share |

Stipe was wearing an eye mask, a la Green Lantern.
A woman in the ladies' room remarked "he looks like the hamburglar!" The room erupted :D
They were great, btw, but I left early (early riser here).

It's how he feels right now. Just like the rest of us creative artists/designers/musicians He lives in my town. Thank goodness we are are a creative, progressive community. r.e.m. works so hard for progressive candidates: local, state and national. We've known him since he was a townie, art student like us. Thank god that there are some artists that will take a stand for what is right.

I love Michael. He's completely out there but so am I. Wish I could have been there.

They did a lot of the newer stuff and some choice oldies. Opened with "Finest Worksong."
I passed Peter Buck & Scott McCaughey on the street a couple hours before the show; didn't say anything, didn't wanna bug 'em, just gave a nod & a smile. Buck looks the healthiest I've ever seen him.

I've been a fan since forever it seems. Never saw them in person and it has always pissed me off that I didn't get to go to one of their concerts in St. Louis almost 20 years ago. Good God, that's sad. Time, not want.
I'm so glad Peter looks so good. I know many people were getting a tad worried with all the you-know-what-crap being spouted.
If they get back our way, I'm going no matter what.

For free. What a show. 1,000's of us college students and fans. It was at Legion Field at UGA. Toy Boat opend for r.e.m. My husband and his band opened for them in the early '80s. He and they were (and are) all local artists and musicians. r.em. plays local shows a couple times a year. I don't think I've ever actually paid to see them play, I just catch the occasional local "surprise" show. They are incredible supporters of progressive candiates and issues, both local and national. I saw Michael introduce Al Gore here at a campaign stop in 2000 . The intro song was I Am Superman. What a moment. Al was incredible. Speaking of Al, my mom dated his cousin when she was in college. interesting.
