How many of you here have ever listened to Kenny Wayne Shepherd? |
|
I think he is a pretty good guitar player, influenced by the blues greats like B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I own a couple of his albums. Trouble Is... and Live On. He appearently released a new album earlier this month. I actually like the sound. It sounds like Lenny Kravitz. Though, it is a let down, because it got away from his more bluesy music that I really liked.

2. I had exactly the same reaction to Johnny Lang's new CD |
|
OK, but he got away from his blues roots more than I would like. Kenny Wayne is good, but not in the same league as Jimi and SRV.

3. I've met him, seen him perform.. |

I love the guy, helluva nice guy in person too. It was during a G3 tour he was with Satriani and Vai.
He let me and my buddies watch him rehearse.
I too though perfer Ledbetter Heights and Trouble Is overall.

Influenced by, but not nearly as good as any of the above... Better than most of the teen angst / Blink 182 shit out there these days.

7. Yeah. I've seen him live several times. |
|
Saw him on the G3 tour with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Also saw him opening for Van Halen. He's a good blues guitarist, and still pretty young and bound to get even better. I've never heard him do non-blues stuff.

10. He'll improve with age. |
|
Don't get me wrong--he's good right now--but when he's done a bit more living he's gonna be a lot better blues player. Hendrix and SRV both had walked some pretty dark streets by the time they hit their stride. I hope it doesn't take that for this kid.
