Anyone heard the new Elliot Smith CD?
It is really good like all of his cd's. For those of you that don't know his music, he committed suicide a year ago, a tortured soul he was, stabbed himself in the heart.

1. Not yet, still can't listen to him
I am a huge fan, saw him in concert several times, he really was tortured in such a sweet sensitive way.

But I haven't been able to listen to him at all since he died, I tried once or twice but it was too sad.

I'll get the new album but I don't know if I will be able to listen.

If you like Elliott, visit my friend Charlie's ultimate website, sweetaddy.net.

2. It was a little painful to listen to.....
But brilliant it is. Give it a try, despite the tragedy that happened, he gave us a gift, listen to it.

4. Well it sounds like typical Elliot Smith.....
But I guess it has a different twist because of his death. I have only listened to it once which was today. I usually am a snob when it comes to listening to "new" cd's by bands that I love as I compare the release to the last. However, I was impressed with this CD. Maybe it is solely because that he is no longer with us but I like to think that it is because the guy was a brilliant artist.

5. Hey aquaman...
What other artists do you like? I discovered a lot of other great music through Elliott (recommendations from other Elliott fans).

Some of my favorite Elliott-related music:

Heatmiser (Elliott's old band)
Pete Krebs (Elliott recorded with him)
Badly Drawn Boy
Bonnie Prince Billy (Will Oldham)

I have over 1500 Cd's so I don't know what I like. Today I have listened to:

Mark Lanegan: The guy from the screaming trees new CD, it is a 5 out of 5.

16 Horsepower: I band from Colorado that is mind fucking

Those Bastard Souls: The guy form the Grifters is the singer for this band.

Traffic: Well you know about them

Sonic Youth: Goo, a classic.

Interpol: Antics, going to see them in November in Asheville, NC.

OK, I give up, too many beers.

14. I have one of their CDs
I bought it during my rabid Jeff Buckley phase, where I bought every promo and import, and TBS because it was somehow related to Jeff. :)

16. Well, then,
on that recommendation, I will take it off the shelf tomorrow and add it to the current rotation. Some of my favorite music has been discovered that way.

7. Was he murdered or did he kill himself?
I've heard all sorts of bizarre stories and have wondered if they actually had an official story now.

10. Some people wonder...
I mean, who kills themself with a knife to the heart? Bizarre indeed. Not sure but think I heard the case was still open, they haven't declared suicide or not. My guess is suicide, one way or another. Sad. :(

13. I know
I've been a fan for quite a few years but he never struck me as the type who would plunge a knife into his chest.
At the same time, no one knows what anyone really thinks about anything.
Family and friends all just strangers who pretend to know each other by virtue of familiarity.

11. I love Elliott...
I've had the album for a few months. Really good album. Dunno if it beats Figure 8 (my personal favourite Smith album) but it's definitely good.
