Pearl Jam - Masters of War
I finally watched the Springsteen and Co. concert yesterday (had it Tivo'd but hadn't watched it yet.)

All I can say is Wow! Pearl Jam did an awesome rendition of Dylan's Masters of War. Did anyone else see it and what did you think? I was not previously a fan of Pearl Jam...just wasn't that familiar with them (not much of a grunge fan) but now I'm checking them out.

And by far, John Fogerty and Springsteen were electric with Fortunate Son. That was the most exciting moment of the night! Fogerty was so pumped - you could just tell he was reliving so many memories. I felt happy just to see how much he was enjoying himself.

My favorite performances were (of course) Bruce (although the sound people needed to turn up his mike - what was up with that? The band played over him the whole time - my throat/voice hurt just watching him strain), and REM (especially the song with Michael Stipe and Bruce), followed closely by Pearl Jam and Mellencamp. And I have to say I was blown away by Dave Matthews Band - talk about intense. I have a whole new respect for them. What is the first song they did, the one that ended with "don't drink the water, there's blood in the water...." and what was that all about?

Dixie Chicks and JT were a little disappointing, although Sweet Baby James was nice.

1. Pearl Jam is excellent
Damn shame you bought into that phony "grunge" label all these years. That was a media-invented term used to manipulate people into buying albums. They are rock and roll, if they need any label at all.
