Disgustng story about B.C.'s Provincial government - yet again.
Get this. I just got off the phone with this guy, here's his story.

In 1903 the original purchasers of his property also bought the coal rights to it. He bought the land 15 years ago and kept the rights, and paid up the taxes and stuff on them.

In 2003 the liberal government sold the coalbed gas rights off to four major corps without offering the same deal to private landowners. THEN after they'd sold the rights they decided to pass legislation saying coal rights and coal gas rights were two different things. THEN they put in a neat little clause saying this peice of legislation could not be challenged retroactivley.

I had no idea Dick Cheney was running things here too.

They've basically expropriated this guy's land!

2. That is terribly sad
What is also terribly sad is that I think Gordon SCambell will get re-elected, although not with the majority he now enjoys.

Is there no way correct this injustice?

4. can you get this info to Carole James?
I know some of the opposition research staffers -- this is exactly the kind of thing that needs to see the light of day.

5. I strongly believe:
the BC Liberal Party, and the Fedeal Liberal Party, for that matter, should be sued for their abuse of the word 'liberal'.

They could call themselves "The Happy Sunshine Puppydogs Fun and Candy Party", just as easily, and it would be just as inaccurate.

Why can't they just fess up to being neocons, and have done with it?

Greatest misnomer since Germany's fledgling "National Socialist Party".

6. I liken it to those parasitic wasps that eat caterpillars ...
They lay their eggs on the poor caterpillar, and the ravenous larvae eat it alive. I think that's what happened to the BC Liberals -- it was gobbled up by the Socred parasitic wasps until it was a mere shell.

Same thing happened with the federal Progressive Conservatives. I refuse to call them "Tories" -- that party is dead, taken over by the Reform.

8. so are they going to purge Mike de Jong?
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0326-06.htm

"B.C. Forests Minister Mike de Jong has called the United States a "hostile foreign power" that is attacking forest-dependent communities and families in BC"
