Does anybody you know have pets with clever names? |
|
I know a beagle named Darwin. Also a cat named Q-Tip; she's all dark grey except for a white tip to her tail.

was named Pepper, and we felt we should continue the P food naming trend. *g*

He is a basset hound and his middle name is speed bump.

The people down the way had two great big fuzzy cats, one black, one grey. Black Cat and Grey Cat. Later they got a Manx (crazy, weird cat) that they named Detail.
Another neighbor had a pug named Snorky. Remember the Banana Splits?

14. Not that clever, but my pets with more unusual names are |
|
Creep, a cat Creep II, a cat Speck, a black pug (named for Pee-Wee Herman's dog)
I wanted a female dog and to call her Stella, but I've since come across two or three others who had the same damn idea. So I guess it's not that clever.

nobody, not even Animal Control with nets and traps, could catch him! Two years ago right now, it was getting cold and I saw him limping and decided it was time to do something. He was trailing behing my mother and our two chihuahuas, so I figured he might be ready for a home. So I sat in the garage for about two weeks, putting food out and moving it closer and closer to where I sat, and I finally grabbed him.
Then, I couldn't figure out a name (after we decided no one would take as good care as I would)....got him to the vet, neutered, etc. A few names changes later...(Topo, Max)....I decided he was just a "city slicker" since he was so beautifully black and rust...so sleek and hard to catch....and that's how he became "SLICKER"---("Slick" for short, "Slickie" just because I feel like it sometimes)

When he was a baby, he fell off our (very high) deck - twice. He's very beautiful and a great hunter but the name still fits. He's agile enough but just tends to get into trouble. He'll jump on the coffee table and slide on the placemat and he and it will go sailing off again - very funny. Or he'll sit on the answering machine and it will say over and over again, "hello, please leave a message after the tone" while he looks around trying to figure out where it came from.

Was aptly, if not cleverly named. We found her chained to a fence with no shelter, food or water. She was being bred for profit. She wasn't taken care of , so the pups died. So, they abandoned her. Left her chained and emaciated. Animal Control did nothing. A vet called me about her. One day from death, I met her, and I fucking stole her that afternoon. Cut her chain, and took her. Her sister was on a 2 foot (no lie) leash, tied to the carport. No food, water, blanket, etc. I fucking took her too. I'd do it again, and probably will. I have a $20 watch, but the best boltcutters money can buy. Priorities.
Today, her name is Freedom. Clever, eh?
BTW, according to Ashcroft, I'm a bloody terrorist.

26. I once lived in a grad student household with a cat named |

MagnifiCat. You could tell people's religious backgrounds by how they reacted to the name.
Catholics and Episcopalians and some Lutherans laughed. Adherents of other religions and atheists looked puzzled.

well, my roommate did. and later i got cat-astrophe.
my dogs are now jerzy (named, convolutedly, for jerzy kosinski, by way of chance/chauncy gardener of 'being there') and trooper, whom i did NOT name.
my cats were little bones (rip) and scruff (still terrorizing the household after 13 years). scruff was officially named 'scruffy' because she's a long haired black cat who couldn't groom herself if all nine lives depended on it; hence, she tends to look rather ... scruffy. as in, 'i just came off a three-day bender' scruffy...
and we had a hamster named fred ... who went on to bear 19 children. go figure.

The guy two houses down has a rat terrier named Jack. Unfortunately, that's also my name, and I'm getting tired of getting yelled at from over there. "Jack, don't poop on the lawn!"
It gets worse. They also have a big furry cat named Bob. Guess what his next-door neighbor's name is?
