3. That's so precious
I had a Boxer who was like that - she'd lick the kitten so vigorously, he'd slide across the floor.

When we rescued a 10 day old kitten -- our basenji was so pleased she found all her toys and placed the toys on my husband's lap -- he was holding the kitten. She raised the kitten.

They remained the best of friends.

6. We had a bitch who lost her litter (uterine infection) so she adopted
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 10:40 PM by GreenPartyVoter
one of the kittens our semi-wild mama cat had had under the garage.

Sadly, both critters came to a bad end by cars, albeit at different times. :(

~Jen, who keeps her current furballs under lock and key in the house.

7. Hee hee--your dog probably thought you got her the kitten as HER pet!
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 10:51 PM by rocknation
I saw a TV about animals making alliances like that--a dog who'd lost her litter and allowed the family parakeet to suckle her, a dog who'd go down to a pond and visit a fish, even a cat who protected a mouse from other cats! But I understand that cats have to be taught to go after mice by their mothers.

8. Our cat taught himself how to hunt mice
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 11:19 PM by DELUSIONAL
He was 10 years old before he caught his first mouse --

Now at age 13 he is a fantastic mouser -- mice aren't allowed to live in this house (old farm house -- lots of ways to get in).

So I'd have to say that the mousing ability is genetic -- and not completely learned. Mr. T -- wasn't raised by a mother cat.

I do agree -- the dog did think that the cat was her pet. Mr. T didn't really turn to us until his mom the dog died.

11. Here's Uggy-- a Japanese bobtail kitten/cat
I tried before to upload his photo -- but photobucket was closed to free accounts -- I'm going to try another free photo upload server.

Fingers crossed that http://shutterboard.com shows the photo.

I need to take a lot of photos of this cute guy -- especially riding in the carrier with his new buddy -- a Chihuahua who loves kitties. She has another cat friend -- Mr. T and she tries to makes friends with all cats. But Huggy (Uggy) is her very own kitty.
