3. I gotta say, RZA put together the best score
for Ghost Dog. Jim Jarmusch introduced him to classical music, specifically Peter and the Wolf, to give him an understanding of theme music carried through a long work.

To date it's my favorite score of the last ten years.

4. I bought the soundtrack before I bought the movie - however the score
is the best and I'd love to get that on disc. Hell I watch it just for the score sometimes - especially the opening theme when the bird is flying over the city. Its incredible.

6. I watch it for the score sometimes too
RZA really captured the rythm of the movie. Plus, it gives me a reason to scream out "Passenger Pigeon!"

9. "It's the fuckin!!!!.... akkkkkkk!
My favorite character was Henry Silva. He understands Ghost Dog from the second he hears about him... when they get the message on the pigeon's leg with the passage from the Hagakure and no one knows what it means he simply says, "It's poetry. The poetry or war."

And the way he stands up and straightens his jacket before Ghost Dog shoots him.

10. His expression never changes - I have to say that Jarmusch wrote the hell
out of that movie! And damned if he can't direct people to get the most out of them!

12. The score is limited to Japan...
And I've had no luck finding it on the times I've been over there. I always keep my eyes peeled though, cause that's a beautiful score.

19. I meant the score too - I have the soundtrack as well - but I would
assume that the separate music track is the score otherwise why sell the separate soundtrack. I'll check when I get homw - If its the score I'll burn it for you.

5. My vote is totally split.
Prince Paul and RZA.

They produce way way different styles, but they are the best.

Honorable mention goes to Eric Sermon (EPMD...damn..and how many great tracks has he produced), and Man Parrish.

more recent producers, EL-P is fantastic as are cLOUDDEAD and RJD2.

But Prince Paul and RZA take em all.

11. Which one?
Deadringer is great.

Since We Last Spoke is a bit it and miss, but it's pretty damn cool in hat he takes a lot of chances with his music.

23. Hmmm damn, how could I forget them....
I love love love Paul's Boutique. It might be because I don't think of them as hip-hop producers per se, just great musicians/producers all round.

But yes, good call.

22. Timbaland, without question.
I wanted to give the nod to Dre, for respect, and I wanted to give the nod to RZA, for innovation, but I have to go with Timbaland because there is simply nobody on the planet who can make a song sound better than Timbaland. Nobody.

27. I chose the automator for versatility....
Anyone who can work with hip hop artists, grindcore artists, and scuzzy indie blues artists definitely has it all.

Although I do enjoy Timbaland's style as well as many of the other dudes mentioned. But all of them with the exception of The Automator tend to go back to the same well too frequently in style and sound. Dan Nakamura doesn't do that which makes him more appealing a producer to me.
