Is prepared for the aftermath of the election paranoia? |
|
Folks,
I think we all need to spend a few moments considering what to do if things get violent when the Right learns that it has lost the Presidency, Lost the Senate, and lost the House next week.
A basic disaster preparedness kit (which we all should have) and some form of self defense, even if just a pepper/mace foam sprayer might be a valuable thing to have if these fully armed nutjobs decide to make trouble.
Or am I over-reacting???

pessimist, but.... I will be surprised if we know the winner of this thing by Tuesday night. God forbid, but I fear this one is heading to the courts... if so, what is going on now will seem like a serene mountain scene compared to the hate and vitriol of the weeks and months to follow another election entangled in the courts. JMHO.

3. Is it really too much to at least expect them to do the honorable thing? |
|
I keep hoping they will, but I know how unlikely this is.
They have all of their chips in the pile and they need to win this hand.

my faith in our political process has decreased dramatically in the last ten years or so.
Politicians do the right thing? HA!

Have a large tub of free cool-aid in the front yard for all the *Bush/Messiah followers & snake handlers who will think his loss is the sign of end times. Free Nike's for those who apply.

Hurricane season does not end until November 30. Call me paranoid but I am always prepared with flashlights, candles, canned beans, and bottled water!
I don't know where you live so I don't know if weapons to protect against "nutjobs" will be necessary. If you think riots are likely, then you should prepare yourself appropriately. I somehow don't think anyone is going to be rioting at my local polling place, a very well regarded public high school!
On Edit: I honestly do not believe they will be coming into our homes on November 3 and killing all the Democrats if this is what you are asking. But if they do, no harm in being ready.

6. Its just that domestic armed violence is the one thing they haven't tried. |
|
And I remember that Eric Rudolph and Tim McVey were right wingers.
I just cannot trust them.

12. Here In N. CA, We Prep for Earthquakes, Storms, Fires, Floods.... |

Wingers don't even make the list. The nutbars are way too outnumbered around here to try anything like that.
It's not clear how one *could* prepare for roving bands of armed Talibornagains anyway. A priest's hole may be more useful than a pistol. Good neighbors more useful still. If your neighbors ARE the Talibornagains, MOVE NOW! Stop by the early voting site on your way out.

to figure out how to avoid the whole thing, no matter who wins, for at least a week. No matter which side wins, the other one will make life miserable for all of us for as long as possible.
I would prefer to go to sleep Tuesday night after returning from class and not waking up until inauguration day to see who shows up. By then the dust should have settled.
If Kerry wins it'll make the Clinton era smearing look like a tea party. If Bush wins, the conspiracy theorizing will make remote controlled jets hitting the WTC sound reasonable by comparison.
