(sorry about the poor sylvester imitation)
I know it's hot all over, but damn, it seems like 120 here. I painted half the interior of the house this weekend, and can't stop sweating.
anybody out there feeling comfortable in the heat? How do you do it?

When I work outside in the searing heat, I keep three towels in use. Two in a cooler with ice water in it, and one around my neck so it rests over the two arterys in my neck. Rotate as needed. Sure you get wet, but I worked dawn to dusk last year in the Tennessee summer heat with no troubles at all. Also drink twice the normal amount of water!
I feel for ya!

People survived because the only other option was death. Seriously, I work with a guy whose 89 year old mother just got her first window unit. My co-worker bought it for her, but he doubts she is using it. She lives in Chattanooga, Tn. My own parents got a unit two years ago, and they are amazed you can be comfortable in the summer! I remember those hot summer nights growing up trying to sleep in a sweat soaked bed. Most of your old southern plantation homes have a dining room and some living space in the basement.

5. There's a lot to be said for a little underground living space |

in the summer. That's how I survived summers growing up in Chicago--sleeping on a cot in the basement. By the time I got to be a teenager, it got harder because my older brothers and friends were fiddling around in their home recording studio down there.
