What has everyone been listening to today?
Music is therapy. I started out with some Pink Floyd. But, that was a mistake. Too depressing. Then I went with Les Claypool's Frog Brigades' album Purple Onion. Even worse. Dark, cynical.

So I popped in some Phish, some moe. and some Greatful Dead. Much better...

What has everyone else been using to help them cope?

5. Mike Malloy.

The more I hear, the more impressed I am with him. The man has the righteous fire in his belly.

8. Randi was good today.
If you have even the smallest amount of despair in you, turn her on. She is full of hope and fighting spirit, and completely bullshit-free.

you just named four of my favorite bands of all time (assuming Les' vast musical empire counts as one band). when i heard florida went to shrub, i turned on phish's "prince caspian" and all the bad thoughts just left...it was a big help in calming me down. ive been listening mostly to RATM today, angry, yes, but if nothing else, this "election" has pumped me to do more in my other progressive groups

10. Been listening to two types of music today.
Dark and depressing, and violent and angry.

In the former category, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.

In the latter, Ministry.

Thats about it. I am not in a mood to tolerate anything happy, cheerful, or uplifting at the moment.

15. Psalm 69 and Land of Rape and Honey...
are the 2 albums I've been listening to. Good, loud, violent and cathartic. Haven't gotten No W yet.

13. Right now I'm listening to "Stuck in the Middle With You"
by Stealers Wheel. The lyrics really speak to me, especially today.

That, and it reminds me that I'd like to cut off George W. Bush's ear.
