In 1999 I worked with a "born again" Christian. He went to one of those churches that was in an abandoned bar.

Of course there's nothing wrong with that, but his minister convinced him the Great Holocaust was coming on Y2K and the faithful would be lifted unto the heavens at the subsequent 2nd coming.

I don't know if his faith wavered, but he sold his Corvette to build a bomb shelter, shaved his head and didn't show for work between Dec 20th and Jan 7th. He even sacrificed his Xmas pay.

I imagine he voted republican.

these people are never happy unless they have some apocalyptic event hanging over their heads. They're all so looking forward to the rapture that they neglect the issues at hand, unless of course those issues lead to the apocalypse. Religious fanatics of all nationalities are a mortal danger to this planet. They've turned it into a big pissing contest of who's God can beat up their God. ALL of these people have taken religion too far from it's intended purpose, to help people love and help each other. Organized religion is the greatest breeder of hate in the world today.
