DU'ers who live in the border states with Mexico |
|
Do you visit? Do you know the name of a city where there is a large population of US ex-pats.
I googled living in Mexico but, I'd like to hear from DU'ers because I trust you guys :)
Mr. Madmax and I were talking about taking a vacation and checking it out. He can retire early in 3 years. Gives us sometime to see where the hell this country is going. Canada is too cold for me and I'm too old for Costa Rica ;) He's Cuban and I'm Portuguese so speaking the language won't be too hard.

2. There are some lovely places in Baja California |
|
I'd recommend checking out Ensenada. It's about 80 miles south of San Diego.
You can drive there from the international border, or you can take a 3 day cruise there during the off season for about $260 per person.

I looked in Borders and B&N but only found Fodor type books for vacation info. I'm looking for cost of living and what type of electricty they have. I need my computer!

6. Ensenada is starting to get more expensive, I hear. |
|
It's very popular with American retirees.
San Miguel de Allende is popular as well.
DO NOT move to a border town...those tend to be touristy and they also have a lot of maquiladoras. You'd be better off away from the borders, I think.
