What's The Big Deal Over HALO 2?
I don't get it, maybe I am just not into video games (which is true) but even if i was, what makes HALO 2 so special?

There are people running all over my university stapling flyers up about huge HALO 2 competitions and clubs and everyone is talking about it. What gives?

1. Awesome graphics, gameplay, and the chance to kill lots of aliens
who woulden't love it? It's one of the big releases of this year, along with Doom 3, GTA san andreas (my personal fave) and Halo 2.

2. I wouldn't doubt that some of those flyers and competitions...
... aren't part of a guerilla advertising campaign.

18. Right, but that's the nature of "guerrila" advertising, right?
Coming at you from unconvential directions. I wouldn't be surprised if the college dept had a deal w/ Microsoft to promote the game -- like all those grade/high schools stocking Coke or Pepsi.

5. A house full of teenage boys...
I'm going to have 9 teenagers camped out at my house this evening for an all-night game of Halo 2. 3 TV's in 3 rooms. This should be interesting.

I will give the game credit...it looks friggin' awesome! The graphics are insane!!

8. It's not that great.
I don't enjoy those types of games.

I prefer fighting and RPG-type games.

15. Hey, you just put graphics over gameplay.
That's like putting "cars getting blowed up real good" over dialogue in a movie critique.

9. It's just an FPS, right?
With "really good graphics." Sounds like the big budget Hollywood flicks that people go to to watch "real good special effects."

Now GTA: SA. That's a game.

10. If you're not "into video games," it's no big deal.
Similarly, if you're not "into wine," a '59 Château La Tour isn't a big deal. However, if you are into games, the first Halo was a watershed in terms of gameplay, story and--above all--graphics. It almost singlehandedly launched the XBOX. The sequel did $100,000,000 worth of business on its first day. Those are Spiderman movie numbers.

Yeah, it's a big deal.

...and the first Halo was one of the first console LAN games that people went wild over.

People would go out of their way to lug Xboxen (plural for Xbox perhaps?) and Televisions to a meeting place to play multiplayer LAN Halo games.

Halo 2 has a good single player, but the multiplayer simply rocks.

26. Pfft, I have no freaking clue.
All those first person shooter games look alike to me...My SO is going out this weekend to a Halo 2 Party. Everyone is bringing their xbox so they can hook them all up. The kid hosting even bought 2 copies of the game since both he and his brother have xboxes. Ugh. Reminds me of the Simpsons where Gavin wants two copies of Bonestorm.

30. Yes!
THAT'S the game I'm waiting for. Not that I'm saying Halo 2 and GTA:SA are NOT great games (isn't it neat that there's such a wide variety of excellet games coming out?) but HL2 is gonna be cool!
At least I hope so. I've been disappointed lately with "things".
