Totally pissed off -- dammit! |

I could strangle my husband.
For about a year now, we've been having things taken from our house. The first time, it was the change in the family tax jar (a 3-foot tall Pepsi bottle, which was half full -- about $500). We confronted the 12-year-old about it and then set up a web cam for a couple months. Nothing happened.
When the tax jar was about half full, it happened again. In addition, the pills were missing from my bottle of prescription pain killers. Again we confront the 12-year-old and again she swears it wasn't her. (Which I believe -- she knows the money in the tax jar goes to fund vacations, weekend getaways, museum trips, etc.)
You guessed it... again it happens (the change from the tax jar)... and it happened again about a month ago. This time I went to the police department because, in addition to the change, all my jewelry was gone.
Prime suspect is my good-for-nothing brother-in-law. He phoned my husband today and wanted to use one of our cars to go to his methadone clinic tomorrow. Hubby refused. Then he called again and wanted us to drive him to get keys to their mom's car -- she is vacationing 4 hours down the road. Again, hubby refused. BIL calls a third time and says that mom will meet them halfway. Hubby AGREED! WTF?!?!
I told him he had better spend the entire 4 hours finding out where in the hell all my jewelry went.

1. I knew a heroin addict once... |
|
perfectly nice guy, except for his habit of stealing everything in sight!
Got sent to jail at last after he tried robbing a taxi driver with a butter knife.
Hope you get your jewelry back!
A safe might be a good investment.

2. One way to tell a drug addict: |
|
They'll steal your stuff then offer to come help you look for it!
Next time, hide the web cam & don't tell anybody.
The 12-year old wouldn't know how to go about getting rid of the jewelry.

Who else would have taken your meds. The pattern is there. I used to work in a Drug/crisis place and I know. check the pawn shops between your house and the brother-in-laws. They're usually too messed up to ditch the stuff somewhere not in a straight line between where it was ripped off and where they're headed.

7. Already done -- no luck yet |
|
I canvassed all the pawn shops in our town and every town between here and where his methadone clinic is. No luck yet. I figure he sold it on the street or traded it.

I've gone through a similar robbery from a drug addict.
Good luck.
