Congratulate me! I'm the uncle of newborn TWINS!
I just got off the phone with my mother. Last night my sister gave birth to TWO baby girls!

They're a little early. Actually, they're about two months early. Just under three pounds each. Ten fingers (each). Ten toes (each). The doctors think they're going to be fine. But they have to spend the next month or so in the hospital, because they are so small and there will probably be a few problems. My sister hasn't even seen them yet.

For those of you keeping score at home: My wife and I now have a total of ELEVEN nieces and nephews. (That's a lot of Christmas presents!)

Bubblegum cigars all around!

33. Congratulations
My grandmother was a twin and my little sisters are twins. My sisters were born on one of my older brother's birthday. They're fraternal. One was born with a David Cassidy-like shag and the other had peach fuzz.

Are your nieces fraternal or identical?

One of my nephews (one of my eight n & n) was born early. He spent a couple weeks at the hospital before he was able to come home. He was so tiny the only hat we could find to fit him was the hat from a small bear one of my brothers bought him. We had to special order diapers for several months. We thought we would break him because he was so small. He turned eighteen earlier this year and helped spearhead a registration drive at his high school. He's strong, athletic and very smart.

Tell your sister that from small packages come very large gifts.

All the best to your sister and your family.

68. May no-ha-bäcibe'hin always watch over them
My twin sisters are as different as night and day but they are also very supportive of each other.

My mom used to tell them that no-ha-bäcibe'hin send them here together in this life because there would come a time when it would take their combined efforts to do what was needed to find the experience that their souls needed to go forward/evolve. And although their lives have taken different paths in life they remain close.

May no-ha-bäcibe'hin always watch over them, keep them blessed and help them find their way both together and on their own.

FYI, I'm Arapaho, no-ha-bäcibe'hin can be translated as "our grandfather."

You lucky guy. Enjoy spoiling the heck out of them!

One of my grandnephews was two months early -- 3#10oz. He's now a healthy 6 year old -- very tall and slender. He has some issues at school -- but it still isn't clear whether they're developmental or behavioral. He wasn't in any kind of day care or pre-school so the whole deal about rules and social interaction is new to him. Poor kid.

82. Girls are great, I should know, I have one
But she is 20 now.

OK really bad twin joke

Woman delivers her twins early and her husband is away in the service. She gets taken to the hospital by her brother in law who isn't all there. She has a boy and a girl

She takes too long to come out of anesthesia and the hospital tells the brother in law that these kids have to have names NOW so he names the kids

when she does wake up, brother in law is there and he tells her everything is ok and that he named the kids.

With great trepidation, she says, "Well, what did you name my daughter?"

"Denise"

"Oh, that is not so bad, so what did you name my son?"

"Denephew"

I'm a twin, and was born a month early - spent a month in the hospital. I'm a big strapping guy now.

The babies should be fine.

90. No worries; my kid's a testament to the remarkable stuff they are
capable of doing for preemies!

So happy for you! Try not to let them know too early that 57,000 people will be wanting to know when they take their first steps, say "yellow dog" for the first time, etc.!

Wonderful, wonderful news!

Watch them close so they will grow up to be responsible citizens.

Here's an example of twins that did not have a good uncle:

Twins almost always come early. A friend of mine gave birth to her little girl two months early, around the same time we had our first, and now you would never know that she was ever such a tiny little thing in an incubator. Congrats again, proud uncle!

104. Congrats, Skinner and Skinner's Sis.
They should be just fine, I know Mom and Dad will be exhausted, but in the end, after the screaming, You look in at those tiny babies and you think "Wow, look at what we have created" My little girl, who we lovingly call "Loki's Minion" is still known to bring a tear to my eye for how perfect she is... That is when she isn't calling * an asshole, or trying to hang one of the cats. She sees * on TV, I hear that beautiful little being say "asshole" and I have to make an effort to not laugh.
