Poll question: Who do you think is right me or my friend? |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 01:06 PM by HEyHEY
My friend took out my other friend's sister the other week. (Fear not honourable intentions I assure you) I asked him if he told her brother. He said he hadn't he was gonna wait until they went out a couple more times.
I told him he should say something now because if her brother finds out some other way, he may be pissed. He may even think my buddy was trying to get away with something.
My friend disagrees.
What do you think?

...when I got engaged my three brothers were very suspicious, now I am pretty sure they like him more than me. Sigh.

They're adults, they can work this out themselves.

or just this guy? I guess if it is a friend of the brother, it might be nice to tell him. But since they are adults....
good thing my brothers are all younger than me. None of their business as far as I was concerned.

4. Do you have any brothers? |
|
There's a certain pride a brother takes in being way too overprotective of his sister.

One of them is a bartender. I cannot count the number of times I have been well on my way to charming a likely prospect when my brother has unceremoniously picked the poor fellow up and tossed him out the door like yesterday's garbage.
Brothers THINK it's their business but it's really not.
edited to add - If you're wondering why I insist on picking up men in my brother's bar, it's because of the free drinks.

6. I think you are an awesome brother! |
|
I have two older brothers, so I know what you're talking about. Good for you to be protective. These days, you need to be. :hi:
By the way, I read your post last night, congratulations on your sister's pregnancy! Have fun being an uncle! My brothers treat my babies in such a loving way. I think you're going to enjoy having a niece or nephew running around and thinking you are the greatest uncle on earth.

9. I have a brother,3 sons and 2 daughters----- |
|
My now long married daughters would have laughed in their faces at the idea that their brothers would have any say in who they dated,as I would have in my dating years.

have no business with what she does, says or who she goes goes out with. If my brothers had tried to interfere with any of my relationships - I would have beaten their asses into the previous year. The same works in reverse... sisters don't get any say in who baby brothers date or marry.
Is there a problem with friend one that he shouldn't go out with friend two's sister? Such as already in a relationship or abusive to women he's been in relationships with? Those are the only reasons I would say are legitimate excuses for outside interference.
You should stay out of it. Interference, no matter how well intentioned, could lose you two friends.
There's the opinion of this old lady on this foggy Vancouver morning... before she's had a chance to have her first coffee of the day and has just discovered that she is out of cigarettes.

14. I'm not interfering, it has nothing to do with me |
|
I'm just asking opinions on the conversation I had with my friend.
The point is though, sneaking around is just not a good approach, I think.
Yeah, it's all cruddy in Port Moody today....but I like it.
