What was your favorite NewsRadio episode?
It looks like the NewsRadio Seasons 1 and 2 DVD is finally gaining traction and will be released sometime next year, packed to the gills with special features. The talk of the set has reminded me of what a great show it was, and I can't wait to see it again.

My favorite episode was probably "Copy Machine," where a staff member nobody really payed attention to commits suicide by sticking his tie in the copy machine, and while everybody makes jokes concerning the ludicrous nature of his death, Dave feels a desperate need to pay respects to the man. He even goes so far to give the eulogy at his funeral... only to find out that he was a member of the Klu Klux Klan. A close second is "Balloon," where Mr. James announces he's going to take a balloon trip around the world, until Dave discovers Mr. James is filming the entire thing in the station.

1. The one where Phil Hartman was smoking inside the broadcast booth
or where he pretended to be walking downstairs inside of his cubicle.

2. My favorite line:
Dave: "Mr. James, isn't that a conflict of interests?"

JJ: "Dave, it's the 90s... we call it 'synergy' now."

4. the one where Jimmy James goes on a book tour
to promote his title "Jimmy James, Capitalist Lion Tamer", a huge hit in Japan and now republished, in translation BACK to English, in the US. I don't think I've ever laughed that hard in my life.

9. Monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey
My partner and I often quote lines from that episode at each other:

"War. WAR!"

"And the strength of loins girded with the opulence of ox fat,"

5. The one where Joe Rogan and Vicki Lewis
promise Dave Foley that they'll paint a mural for the building lobby. Turns out they scrawl the word "STINKBUTT" across the canvas, and Dave has to defend it as a free speech issue.

The one where they all find out Bill McNeil (Phil Hartmann) is dead is also a favorite. Made me cry every time I saw it.

10. Laughter through tears...
The Bill McNeil funeral episode is great. I love how he continues to mess with Matthew even after he's gone. Absolutely in character.

15. Oh man...
Yeah, Bill Moves On is one of my favorites, but it's hard to watch, especially during the end scene where they're all reading his last letters to them. I don't think I've ever seen a show that handled tragedy with such grace and humor. It was bad enough the character of Bill was gone, but simply heartbreaking when you remember it was a tribute to Phil Hartman himself.

6. Hmm..
I LOVE that show! Perhaps the best ensemble show on TV in years!

LOVE IT!

Hmm.. my favorite..

I especially like the one where Mr James asks about the Dow, and he falls out the window if it's under a certain magic point.

Then there's the one where their radio station is in outer space, and they need to get back into their suspension pods to sleep until the station is repaired. Matthew and Bill were left awake to tend to the station. Matthew trips on the power cord to the pods, killing everyone inside. Bill then mentions how they need to repopulate the earth, and Matthew says, "Okay.. but no gay stuff!"

lol!

Then there's the one with the suggestion box that keeps getting filled to the point where it drives Dave crazy.

And the one where the station's air conditioning has gone on the fritz, and everyone in the station is daydreaming/hallucinating.

Or the one where Dave and Lisa go TV shopping, and Dave ends-up watching Green Acres whilst Lisa watches Trent Lott on C-SPAN..

So much goodness... thanks for telling me about this! :bounce:

8. Too many to name really
The one where Bill gets his special smoking area chair was pretty funny.

I also like the one where the building is on fire.
