14. Brother Ray's prophecy of the Bu$h legacy: "Busted." |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 10:03 PM by DemoTex
Man, we are really busted now. But that is political.
My favorite Ray Charles non-political cut was that of the Beatles' "Yesterday." What you say? Oh. I guess that is now political too. In fact, I nominate "Yesterday" for our new national anthem (with slightly modified lyrics):
Yesterday all our troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh we believe in Yesterday
Suddenly, we're not half the state we used to be There's a shadow hanging over, see Oh Yesterday came suddenly
Why it had to go we don't know They wouldn't say Bu$h did something wrong now we long for yesterday
Yesterday peace was such an easy game to play Now we need a place to hide away Oh we believe in Yesterday
Why it had to go we don't know They wouldn't say Bu$h said something wrong now we long for yesterday
Yesterday peace was our goal day-to-day Now we need a place to hide away Oh we believe in Yesterday

17. America the Beautiful |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 10:38 PM by LeftyMom
Instead of having some pop diva mangle the (rediculous, bombastic and nearly unsingable) national anthem they really ought to just pop America the Beautiful in the CD player and broadcast it before every sporting event. People could sing along with Ray or just listen- it _never_ gets old. I get teary every time I hear it.
I do plan to play "Hit the Road Jack" when Bush gets impeached though. :) It might be my favorite after that.
