Anybody here ever hired a private detective? |
|
If so, what's the going rate?
I'm looking for a friend of mine. I lost contact with him 2 years ago. I've known him since we were kids. After college he moved away from our small town. The last I heard from him he was living about 150 miles away from me and amazingly along a route that I traveled as a trucker every day. I would leave early and stop by his place a shoot the breeze for a little while. The last time I stopped by to visit I learned from his landlord that he'd moved and he did not have a forwarding address.
It has occurred to me that he may not want to associate with me any more, but I cannot think of anything that I did that would make him think that way.

1. See if you can get a credit report on him |
|
It should show current address, or at least last known. If you call a PI, ask about a skip trace, and ask price. Shouldn't take long. You might try vehicle registration records or local tax records if you have to pay personal property taxes on vehicles, etc., in that state.

2. Thank you for the tips, Hog lover |

We don't have to pay property tax on vehicles in this state, but I sure can do a credit check. What is this skip trace you speak of? I've never heard of that.

3. Skip trace is just shorthand for "locate the person" |
|
the term skip trace is used when someone skips town to get out of a debt, etc.
