21. Classic rock stations play U2.
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 01:45 PM by janesez
U2 is basically the most popular rock band in the world. I truly can't believe that you've never heard of them and I instead believe that you are pulling our leg.

24. I've heard "of" them,
but I don't think I would be able to identify anything by them.

Were they popular in the 70s?

I can't believe the news today
Oh, I can't close my eyes
And make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? How long...
cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...

Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across the dead end street
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up
Puts my back up against the wall

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? How long...
cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...tonight...

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away
Oh, wipe your tears away
Oh, wipe your tears away
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Oh, wipe your blood shot eyes
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die

(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

The real battle just begun
To claim the victory Jesus won
On...

Sunday Bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday...

28. i'm a U2 fanatic, the new album is great....BUT
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 03:41 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
so it pains me to write this, but i'm severely disappointed in bono lately. where the hell was Mr. Outspoken Political beliefs these last 3 years? sure, he made a few light condemnations of the war, particualrly of Tony Blair for going along with Bush, but in a time when political music is needed more than ever, U2 has been MIA. except for the vague 'peace, love, or else" (yes, the title's blunt, but the song isn't), the new album is pretty light on political and social beliefs.

i disagree with many who claim bono has been a bush supporter. he's been friendly with him, mainly because of the african AIDS stuff(which, is great work, but still it's wrong too almost completely down play the most wreckless and arrogant leader in modern history)

maybe they were too busy cutting deals with corporate slime like steve jobs and his overpriced, useless ipods to get involved.

it all started when they played the superbowl halftime show. u2 is my all-time favorite band, but as much as i hate to say it, they have sold out just a wee bit these last 5 years or so.

mark my words: all u2 tix will be in the $100 plus range for the first time ever on this next tour
