Thank GOD there won't be a single fucking Repub at my Thanksgiving |
|
For all the issues in my family...politics is not one of them. Out of approximately 13 people there will not be a single Republican...not a single Bush voter.
I am THANKFUL for my family's liberal values.

I'm having a liberal family Thanksgiving in a "red" state! We all need to get together, we need a little cheering up.

The Repub relative who monopolizes Thanksgiving had too much hurricane damage so he's not throwing it this year!
OH, yay, oh yay. (Hard to feel sorry for him. The items that blew away were in bad need of repair. He now gets a home improvement at the tax payer's expense.)

We will be having two Bush supporters for dinner. I mean, we will be having dinner with two Bush supporters (oops, I thought it was funny though so I kept it in there) Although we will be traveling from a red state to a blue state and there will be 6 Kerry supporters there also. SO I am thankful for that. I might not leave once I get there!

I could mail you a couple from Stephanie's family.
Let me know; I will need to get them ready right away.
BTW: they LOVE me....proof in their minds that Stephanie is not gay. The Subaru scared the shit out of them.

11. Two I know of, out of two families. |
|
And I've mentioned one racist family member of his besides, in threads here before who, apparently, didn't vote for the Naked Emperor this year by all indications (which brings up the whole 'do we really want a guy like him calling himself a Dem,' but whatever, at least he won't be crowing over the 'mandate' all evening).
But the hub and I already have an agreement -- politics comes up at all, or any racial or sexual slurs get tossed around casually, the dog and the purse and the Philostopher are heading for the car, and the hub can hang around and get a ride an hour north with his family, or he can come home with me. I've had enough of it, and I know after this year not all of them are Republicans, in fact most of them aren't -- they just let the obnoxious Republican members of the family control the conversation half the time instead of getting into it -- so I don't have to feel the least bit bad about grabbing the dog and bailing out if it turns out that way.
My family are all Dems, to a one, so at least the first family gathering won't be any problem. We'd drown a Republican in the bathtub and bury it in the old demobbed cistern behind the house, if it showed up at my family's dinner, and call it good exercise.

15. I'm having to leave town on Christmas. |
|
Sadly, I sold my own home to move in with someone down in, uh, well where I am. My roommate's parents are repugs and they are going to be in this house for da holidays. They are uppity and totally obnoxious. I've decided to spend three days with The Mouse. I know, Disney's corrupt as hell. :). But, hey, it's fantasy land and it beats being around repugs.
Only problem is that I will be alone on Christmas. boo hoo...poor me. I'm going to put up a little Xmas tree in my motel room and eat some over-priced crappy food. YUM!

30. Universal sounds good. |
|
I haven't bought any Disney tickets. I'm only staying at their cheap resort hotel because the price actually beats most of the decent motels in the area. It being Christmas time and all. I lived in Orlando for over a year and I went to Universal all the time. I like the parking building. LOL! The long walk in with all the music blaring and the great view was almost as interesting to me as the park itself. Oh, and the Spider-Man ride is cool. I went on the Hulk or the green rollercoaster, whatever they call it, and about spewed my last 3 meals.
Ok, I'll stop now.
I might just move back up there. I need all fantasy - all the time for the next 4 years.
eh

But that's the only one. We're hoping he doesn't gloat.
I don't want my introduction to the family to turn into a food fight, cause if he so much as mentions his "glorious" leader or the triumph of moral values, I will hurl mashed potatoes at him. I think the rest of the family would support me, though. ;-)

Her parents worked for the Hoover campaign, so when Roosevelt beat him they lost everything so they abandoned her in an orphanage. She's been a Republican ever since. I suppose I can forgive that much.

Thank goodness, the Repubs are all meeting somewhere else. Bravo! So much less angst that way. They can do whatever it is they do (that's the alcoholic side of the family). And we... can all commisserate with each other. Lick wounds, make plans. Yeah, it's gonna be a good day.
All that... plus... TURKEY! (and mashed potatoes, which I haven't had in a year)

Before me and all my siblings were married we'd sometimes invite dates who were potential Bush voters to our family gatherings. They often left alone and never came back.
