1. My favorite.
I always loved it when he talked about his support for "Richard E. Nixon". By the way, the late lamented Carroll O'Connor campaigned with George McGovern in 1972!

3. Agreed. But the weird thing is that bigots and conservatives
liked the show too. Apparently they are incapable of understanding parody and satire. Is this an intellectual flaw of conservatives? Or a personality flaw? EDITH!!!!

from the episode where he locked himself in the basement and then got drunk.

IMHO, one of the best moments on All In The Family is when Archie is singing God Bless America while Gloria is crying, Edith looks bewildered and Mike is disgusted/frustrated and Archie interjects "Get away from me!" in the middle of the chorus.
