2. So make sure you have lots of folks to counter-demonstrate
Don't his "appearances" usually draw more counter-demonstrators than followers anyway?

3. What the heck is going on in Joplin
to gain the attention of that POS?

Let me guess - someone suggested that gays are human beings.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll avoid the area.

Lured by a controversy at Webb City High School, a Topeka, Kan., group says it will protest Sunday outside five Joplin churches and a Webb City church, during services at those churches.

The group, led by the Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., also plans to protest outside Webb City High School on Monday morning, Nov. 29.

The group, based on previous protests elsewhere, could carry signs that say "God Hates Fags, God Hates America,'' and "Thank God for Sept. 11." Other signs depict gay sex.

The pastors of the targeted churches say they are encouraging their congregations to ignore the protests.

6. He came to my campus all the time
It was basically him and his group of young thugs spewing hate, against the entire student body screaming at him to go to hell. It's a good feeling telling an ass like Phelps to shove it.

7. He's Weird...
He's a disbarred lawyer who started his career by defending blacks in the pre civil rights movement south...

And his reading of scripture is flawed....

15. Why Was He Disbarred?
Was he selling out his clients to the prosecution?

8. They never showed up on our campus...
though they said they were coming to protest our theatre dept.'s production of The Laramie Project.
I think they are lucky if they can find their way to the place they intend to go. You are closer to their HQ, though, so be prepared -- they might make it to Joplin.

20. Ordinarily, I'd agree with that...
... but the truth is that I have no sympathy for bullies, and his behavior after the Matthew Shepard's murder was hell-and-gone unforgivable.

He will be picketing 6 churches, some Baptist, because they don't teach the way he thinks.
