Success! Cable company changes Channel 2 radio from Christian back to NPR |
|
and I think it may be national NPR and not just the local affiliate. I can't tell. I don't recall ever hearing talk on Saturday morning.
I only had to complain twice. On Wednesday I stuck a note through the bill-pay slot that said, among other things, "I realize you can't please everyone, but gospel music and preaching are not a good choice if you want to keep your non-religious customers."
I hope I'm not the only one who complained, but I'm glad they took it seriously.
I'd still like to get Dish Network, but I have a covenant issue with the dish that I need to investigate as well as a bit of discomfort with the higher cost. At least this way I don't feel I have to cancel the cable on Tuesday.

1. Homeowner's association/apartment owners cannot stop you. |
|
Barring you from having a satellite dish is an infringement of your First Amendment rights. You can take them to court, and you will win.

2. I've lived in apartments where no dish was allowed |
|
I think it might be in the contract you sign. So it is cable or nothing (but I don't have to pay for that- the apartment complex does). I live in Texas, though, where renters have almost no rights so it might be different in other states. I think they are allowed to dictate what gets attached to their building though (such as satellite dishes) and i doubt it is really a first amendment issue.

but two of my neighbors who signed the same contract have dishes. They got hassled for it. I just need to find out if the rule has fallen by the wayside and, if not, decide if I'm up for a hassle because I'm pretty sure the landlord likes me less than the other two.
I'm not a big TV watcher - in fact, I could easily go without it if it weren't for my son. Plus the dish costs almost twice as much per month with the features I want.
On the other hand, I don't care to support a wingnut company if I don't have to.
I'm weighing the pros and cons.

6. I know, and I'm not sorry! |

If I had a Country Joe CD, I'd crank it up and open the windows and shout "FUCK!" Maybe I'll do that on Christmas. So there.

8. Oh, you must have missed the 15-year-old ruining Thanksgiving thread |
|
It'll pop back up soon enough. In the meantime, Country Joe and the Fish (?) is a band that played Woodstock and apparently did a song with the F-word in it, and another member's 15-year-old tried to stop her from singing along with the windows open on Thanksgiving.
