What Kind Of Winter Coat Do You Have?
I really wanted a peacoat, but Banana Republic and Gap aren't making them this year and so I'm at a loss. I really only buy black coats. Need some ideas!

1. I was fortunate enough to score a peacoat
at a garage sale this summer. I'm lovin' it -- and it was only $5.

12. I though a peacoat...
was a wool coat worn by sailors? At least that's what we had back in the 70's. The pictured coat looks like a hybrid flight jacket kinda coaty thingy...

6. brrrrr
I have this wool coat that I bought at a reuzit shop that I just love. I would never be able to afford BR or any of those retail prices. Even if I could afford them, I would prolly still buy used because it is more fun that way.

For winter, I usually just layer a tshirt, turtleneck and sweatshirt, and then I dont need a heavy winter coat.

9. I have two peacoats.
I have a blue one from Eddie Bauer that is really old (like mid to late 80's old, but was in storage for a long time). It's still barely hanging in there, but the lining is messed up a little. I bought a red one from JC Penney recently and I already have a loose button to sew. :(

Try Eddie Bauer or LL Bean. Their stuff lasts.

10. Try an Army/Navy surplus store...
or retro boutique. I think I know where there's one I had in 1977 or so in a box at my brothers house in Cortland, New York...or did I give that to my sister? Oh well, try the stores.

13. What's this 'winter' thing?
Southern California, my 'winter' coat is a light jacket.

I do own a P-Coat or two, navy issue, one with the original steel buttons, the other with the plastic crap they changed it too.

14. UGH
i really need a winter coat. I bought this adorable one from burlington coat factory, but when i got home w/ it..realized it doesn't really fit me quite right. I'm a tall skinny girl w/ broad shoulders, so it fits me everywhere BUT the shoulders.

now I don't know where to go shopping, I don't have much money.

It is dark blue and was on sale at K-mart last weekend for $25.99

I also have a black wool dress up coat that isn't worth a shit at keeping me warm in Jan here in Illinois.

23. Me I am a coat and jacket fiend
I have about 15 various coats and jackets. I actually do have a pea coat but mine West German Navy issue. I picked it up about 10 years ago just before I got trasferred back to the states for the princely sum of a carton of Camels from the PX. Try some surplus shops or even some flea markets they usually have one surplus dealer at them who has real surplus not the crap the Sunny's Surplus has.

30. Recently bought LandsEnd Pea Coat, added the thinsulate, and
love it. Warm, cozy, not tight, can wear a sweater under and still feel my arms.

I live in VT. Last year it was below zero for an entire month.
So, I needed something WARM.
I add scarves and hats and even "gators" if it's too cold.

35. Geez, I live in Texas, I don't OWN a winter coat
I have a lined jacket for when it is really chilly, and a pashmina shawl for all the other late fall and early spring days.

If it is cold enough down here to be true winter, we have either had snow or sleet and nobody goes out in that anyway because you would be taking your life in your hands to be on the highway with these idiots
