THE world’s most expensive weekend package holiday is to be offered by an exclusive resort in Baja California, Mexico, for $8.4 million (£4.5 million).

The three-day mini-break will include a “bedside performance” by a singer such as Sir Elton John and a private jet for whale watching.

At $2.8 million a night, the cost is almost exactly what the Californian financier Dennis Tito paid for a holiday in space with Russian astronauts three years ago, but the Fabulous Cabo Package will be considerably more relaxing. And you will be able to bring your friends and family along.

The bored billionaire’s break at the new Marquis Los Cabos hotel on the tip of Baja California — with glittering views of the Sea of Cortez — will feature pints of Beluga caviar, exclusive use of a luxury yacht, moored in the Los Cabos marina, and a round of golf with Jack Nicklaus, who designed the resort’s 18-hole course.
