Arg! Work is calling me at home.
I call in sick, and blammo! Every fifteen minutes a co-worker calls saying "Oh, sorry your feeling ill, could you call client so-and-so their server is down" or "Hey, how you doing? Not so good? Great... Hey are you available for a conference call?" Bastards. But if I'm in the office I wont hear boo from anyone all day!

Its like they want to be sure I suffer if I take a sick day!

Anyone else out there work for a place like that?

1. I used to work for a place like that...but not anymore
They got pissy when I looked at the Caller ID and wouldn't answer it. Even tried calling from cell phones. Bite me, I'm sick!

2. Hang up on them

and blame it on having a stuffed up head and not being able to hear

Oh, and I work for a place like that too. The worst mistake I've ever made was giving my computer illiterate boss my cellphone number. Nothing like walking someone through attaching a file in an email that has no clue what I'm talking about....

3. It sounds like harassment. I'd say stick it to them
A few years back my friend ended up working for a company like that. The boss hated the fact that he needed to depend on her sooooooo much. She did the job of what in reality should have been done by 4 people.

Anyways long story short. Her house was robbed and she walked in on the robbery They tied her up and gagged her and basically left her like that. Her roommate was away at the time and my friend ended up staying in that position for about 16 hours. When she was released she was in the hospital for a few days. Her boss actually fired her for taking too many days off(mind you she hadn't taken a vacation for 2 years) and then he said "IF you are going to get tied up kindly do so on the weekend when you don't have to report for work the next day.

Revenge is sweet. 4 other businessmen came to see her and offer her a job as soon as this guy let her go. (He then begged my friend to come back but she didn't)

4. Get caller ID and don't answer!
I actually worked for a place that continued to call me AFTER I HAD QUIT! For like six months. Until I started sending them a bill for consulting.

7. My old boss was like that
It got to the point that I would call in sick and tell them I was turning off the ringer on my phone so I could get some rest. Let them speak to the machine.

8. My boss is definitely like that
If I'm out sick, which is rare (I've been at work with a 102 degree fever), my boss will call non-stop. "Can you come in yet?", "How about now? Feeling better?"

Then, when I'm back, he'll proceed to tell me all day how my absence adversely affected everyone. As if I purposefully got sick just to annoy him.

Also, I've been here two years now and have yet to take my week's vacation consecutively. I have to parse it out, one day here, one day there, because he gripes so much.
