Did Ken Jennings lose it on purpose?
On a good day I get one out of every five questions and I knew that one (HR Block) in 3 nano seconds. I have been watching this guy nail pop culture questions since he was first on the show. There is no way he doesn't know the answer to that questions.

Any thoughts?

5. If You're Going To Lose....
...you need to come up with an answer closer in context than "FedEx!" No way does "FedEx" discern itself from UPS or DHL. So that possibility should have been discounted immediately.

It's also coincidental, or not, how Ken lost on the final day of the November sweeps period.

2. If not, he must have been very tired and distracted.. I too..

nailed it within a couple of seconds. My first response was CPAs. Then I looked at the question again, and said, H&R Block. Ken had a confident look on his face before the answer was revealed. Not a look like, Dang! I messed up! My mother said he MIHOP. :tinfoilhat:

4. He did seem to be playing dumb -
betting big on two daily doubles and then blowing them both.

A Jeopardy bigwig's son is in my daughter's class at school and one of the first questions the teacher asked him in Sept. was "When are they going to get rid of that Jennings guy and give someone else a chance?" The kid laughed and said a lot of people were thinking the same thing, but not to worry. He had been defeated by a woman from Ventura. His ouster was taped three months ago.

6. Jennings does his own taxes, not familiar with H&R Block
I do not doubt that Ken Jennings was tired and that may have played a role in his defeat. Jeopardy films five shows in a single day and my son has noticed that Ken was in close games on shows that may have been the fourth or fifth show filmed that day. What really killed him was two unlucky gambles on daily doubles where he lost $11,000. If Ken had been more conservative on those bets, he would have won easily.

There is a great deal of luck in the show and Ken's luck finally ran out. Ken could probably beat the lady who won yesterday in 8 out of ten tries but got unluckily yesterday.

In the interview that I have seen, it is clear that Ken Jennings handled the matter with a great deal of class.

I can not wait to see Ken come back for the tournament of champions.

7. I agree the guy is all class
However, in a year where both the Yankee's lose to the Red Sox and a second Bush gets a second term I was hoping for Ken to be my shinning light of consistency.

8. With 2.4 million to shelter...
...it would be great publicity for H&R Block to use Ken in a commerical saying, "I didn't know them before, but I sure need them now."
