I Admit It... I Like "Mail Call"

Is that a bad thing?

Does the show glorify war and violence? Or is it educational? I can't decide?

I mostly enjoy the segments that focus on historical aspects of the military. Particularly WWII segments, although the WWI and Civil War segments are interesting too.

I could do with fewer stories about the gee-whiz technology of today's military... and the ooo-rah's in support of the Iraq war. It seems like he's supporting the WAR itself rather than our troops.

Anyway... I just had to confess and get it off my chest.

I have nothing against the military--just its misuse. Gunny has done a lot of great morale building work for our men and women in the armed forces.

Is he a Repuke? Probably. But if you watch him long enough you can tell that he doesn't take himself seriously--and that's the big difference. He's camp and he knows it.

For as much as I hate the idea of war, the history of the military and warfare is pretty interesting. I don't get to watch it too often, but the Christmas episode and the episode about Easy Company during D-Day were good ones.

15. "Tales of the Gun"

No shame in it. I watch "Mail Call" and "Tales of the Gun." "Tales" is very well done too. Actually, most "History Channel" programming is quality.
