You guys remember http://www.sorryeverybody.com / which took off like a rocket, right? I want to see the same sort of thing except with pictures of you and you and me giving the chimpster the finger - one, not five. Georgie boy can even join in, every hundredth poster or so with his famous picture. I think it is a timely way to protest.

I, however, have no skills as a website creator - I can learn them and will if necessary, but I would like to pass this opportunity and these domains on to competent hands or I would like someone to baby step me through the process.

So guys, start talking to me. Not about whether you'll send a picture to the website - I know that thousands of you will and that there are thousands out there who don't even know about DU who will, but I'm looking for people to give me information on the nuts and bolts of doing this or offers from people to do this competently for me.

2. Well,

You'll either need to host your own server(I wouldn't recommend this) or buy webspace on someone else's server to post the html and pictures. It could get pricey, I imagine a site like that may generate a lot of traffic and someone has to pay for that bandwidth.

Google "Web Hosting" and you'll find lots of places to get started. If you have a program like FrontPage you can make your own site fairly easily. You just have to decide on a layout for the pictures, and how the text should look.

If you just want to practice, try signing up for Yahoo! GeoCities for some free web space. Once you generate too much traffic they just shut off access to your site. They also have some web design tools you can play with.

3. It will be easier if he uses PHP

Statically displaying the images will be a big headache, trust me.

If he can't find someone to do it for free, I might be able to ... if I can find the time in the next few weeks.

There are also free "photo album" PHP scripts out there... don't know of any offhand though.

If you can find someone who will host the site for you (or if you're willing to pay for an OC3 line for me, I could host it ;)) and that has PHP support, I can install (or write) a nice, easy to use image gallery PHP program.
