Favorite Cover Song
Mine is a cover of The Donner Party song, "When I Was a Baby" performed by the New Pornographers.

So what are your favorite cover songs?

Yo La Tengo's version of Little Honda - inspired by San Antonio band Big Drag's cover of same. Feelies cover of Dancing Barefoot.

And I love the CD reissue, which included their equally awesome cover of "Paint It Black."

Have you ever seen the film "Smithereens"? They did the soundtrack for it.

8. "Das Modell" by Rammstein..
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 11:01 PM by KDLarsen
.. I think it's one of the most original covers ever done. Who the heck would have seen a metal group doing a electro-classic cover?

EDIT: Forgot to add, Robbie Williams does one hell of a version of "Rollin'" & "We Are the Champions". He only performs them live - the former as an extension of Kids. Listening to it right now, recorded at Roskilde Festival 2001.

Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 11:01 PM by intheflow
...or was that Joe Walsh? One of those ex-Eagles dudes.

Another good one is the B-52's cover of "Downtown."

My boyfriend's choice is Guns-N-Roses covering "Knocking On Heaven's Door."

14. It was Henley
I almost bought the soundtrack to the movie "Leap of Faith" which it is on this weekend at a used CD store. It was two bucks I may still go and get it. I would pay more for a CD single.

another cover a guy I used to know can attribute to a Nawlins musician, but Sandinista says 'Copyright Control', on the vinyl, then it gets thrown into the 'All songs by the Clash' category on the CD.

I love covers, but simply for how hilarious it is I will give my vote to "Boys n tha Hood" remade by Superfast. If you have never heard this - it is so funny. It actually made me buy their album. Check it out.
