Record lottery winner arrested on DUI, weapons charges
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 12:11 AM by damkira
CHARLESTON, West Virginia (AP) -- A man who won a record $315 million in the Powerball lottery was taken to jail on charges of drunken driving and carrying a pistol, authorities said.

Jack Whittaker, 57, was arrested Tuesday night after his Hummer struck a concrete median on the West Virginia Turnpike near Beckley.

Senior Trooper M.J. Pinardo reported that he smelled alcohol, but Whittaker refused sobriety tests and was "extremely belligerent." Troopers also said they found a small pistol in Whittaker's boot and he was carrying $117,000 in cash.

1. all that money just ampliflies.....
the moran. That is just too bad, but you know the holders of the highest office in our land are also guilty of the same behavior. Wonder if the repugs will legalize drunk driving, you know reach for that higher moral plain.

2. I'll bet that's the dude who wore the cowboy hat

at the press conference when he won. He was a contractor who planned to give a lot of money to his church, and I think he's been arrested twice before, since becoming rich.

3. That's what I'm thinking
This sounds that sonofabitch, who won the big one on Christmas in 2002, and said he was such a good, decent, godfearing Christian that he'd be giving millions to his church.

And of course, the churches he mentioned were all rightwing shit churches who preached a serious theology of hate.

4. It is him! There's a photo with the article. He was

quite a character, gave the press much more of a story than they usually get out of a lottery winner.
