How do you handle miserable old sots?
I don't mean in age I mean mentally. I have this woman that lives down the hall from me that can't be happy unless she is making someone else's life miserable. She instigates all kinds of trouble on other people in the building with several of her friends and it is getting a bit annoying.

I went to empty my garbage a few minutes ago because I have a class this morning and I don't like my trash to build up. Well, this old miserable lady that keeps her door cracked open as you pass by tells me that I need a blue bag for newspapers. I just walked passed her door and ignored her because it's best to ignore an evil nosy woman like that. But, she kept yelling that she knew it was me that emptied my trash in a white bag a few months back and that she had been watching me. I turned around and asked her if she had any type of life outside of watching other people and she blew her stack and said that she was going to report me because I wasn't like her and I didn't follow the rules.

This woman thinks that she owns the building that we live in even tho we all pay rent and there are hundreds of apartments in my building. She talks about everyone except for the 3 or 4 older woman that live on different floors in the building that are the same type of miserable sots like she is. They are not happy unless they are talking about someone else. If they don't have something nice to say they make it up and they can't back it up with facts.

They once told the management office that someone on our floor had a Dog in their apartment. Because of the lie all of the apartments needed the furnaces cleaned (checked out) so that they could make sure that they were working all right (no dogs being hid).

The next time this group of miserable old sots tells the building manager that they heard a baby crying in one of the apartments (no children allowed) and the maintenance staff had to check for leaks in the pluming that week.

On election day the woman had Kerry buttons on and It just about floored me because I couldn't believe that these gossipy old natured woman were Liberals.

Did I tell you that they are all in their 30's and 40's and they aren't really old but they sure act like it.

How do you handle a bunch of busybodies that we call the "Church Chat Biotches"? The worse part of their tactics are the lies and when they tell a lie management never asks for proof because you have one that comes in the back and backs up the others.

I am beginning to feel like they are from the Salem Witch trials and they are out pointing fingers and crying Witch, Witch, Witch, Warlock, Witch, Witch and soon they will be placing a scarlet letter on all of us that they don't like. Shoot, maybe it's time for them to move out of the building and give the rest of us a break.

Why do they get off on making everyone else's life miserable? Can you do something about the lies that they can't back up?

One other thing. This group of women use to take pride in getting people evicted from the building and they acted as if they had done something special because they would have a party after the people moved.

5. I don't think that anyone would sleep with them
If they did they would head out the door and get the first cab that came along.

2. I like killing them with kindness.
If that doesn't work - try arsenic.

4. Legally, here is how I see it (and I'm no attorney)
(1) If there is a correlation in the ethnic backgrounds between them and the people they push out, then you may have something actionable against them.

(2) You need to go to the covenants and restrictions/bylaws of your condo building. Read them and look to find:

(a) What the rules actually are. If your "violations" are not written somewhere, they do not exist and she's just harassing you.

(b) Who has enforcement powers? If there is someone in the condominium who has the right to enforce the laws, then she is obviously overstepping her bounds. Especially if she yells at you for something that isn't enforceable, you can file a complaint against her yourself and ask that she follow the condo process for complaints.

7. I had a wierd freak like that in my building too
just ignore her and her friends - pretend they don't exist. If they go whine and lie to the management, defend yourself. Don't let them get the better of you.

8. Invite friends with babies over, OFTEN
And get a cheap voice recorder and go to the park when the doggies play. Listen to the tape, OFTEN. Eventually, management will get tired of false alarms and you will have a party when SHE gets tossed out for costing them too much $$ in 'inspections'.

Yes, I have reached a point in life where I do not suffer some fools.

17. One shoot and I just realized something
If there is one shoot then why do we have to separate it into different colored bags if its going into a huge steel bin that's the size of a small Ryder truck.

Your plastics, cans, newspapers, etc. go in blue bags and the other stuff goes in the white bags for recycling.

12. Why people like to make other people's lives miserable
Because their lives are miserable. Simple as that. They have nothing in their lives but their petty gossip and general miserableness so they delight in making others as miserable as they are.

What are the solutions? Well, it would probably be very difficult, but you could try the old kill 'em with kindness thing. Try to chat with her or invite her over for coffee or ask if she needs anything at the store while you're out or drop by with a fruit basket or invite her to a holiday party. Who knows? Might be lonliness.

I have a hunch that they drive management just as crazy as they do the tenants and that the only reason managment accedes to their requests and gossip is to shut them up. I doubt if the managment says "Oh, Mrs. So and So in 2B has a complaint and she's such a darling woman we must get right on it!" They probably say, "Oh, for Pete's sake, it's that crank in 2B again and you know she won't stop harping on it until we check every bloody apartment for dogs!"

Personally, I'd do two things - I'd try to be as pleasant as possible and I'd ignore the rest.

24. They have to be nuts
I would love to have a psychiatrists diagnose them. If someone is so full of hate that they continue it for years they have to be sick in the head along with the rest of the bunch.

13. Misery loves company
and it sounds as if they have no lives of their own. Nextt ime you see them in a group, i'd say something like "Oh i'm surprised to see you with her, from what you've told me you don't think very highly of each other, but i'm glad to see you getting along now"

19. We can get one on stalking charges because she admitted it in writing LOL
I love that strategy. What is the most aggravating is how they make things up together and they think that just because they say it then its the truth.

They act like a bunch of freepers eating their own people alive. If they are doing this 24/7 then they don't have a life and making other people miserable is their life. I think a nice lawsuit with possibly several people involved might make them change their ways.

Nothing like taking a bunch of ignorant biotchs to court and suing them for harassment, defamation of character and emotional distress. A couple of us found a few notes from the old sots in the laundry room and we have it on paper. I have three weeks off at Christmas, I have their names, I know their addresses and I have it down in writing (she is this and she is that) and I am going to find a Lawyer to sue them and if i don't have time to find a lawyer I will type it up and put it into court myself and subpoena them to come to court.

I would love to turn the hands around and give them back some of the harassment that they deserve and bestowed upon others. The "psychiatrists" of the group needs to be sued just for pretending to be one with her comments about other people. The detective of the bunch well she could be sued for stalking because she admitted hunting people down in the building. The false rumor spreader needs an ass whipping. :D

14. Pretend to cast a spell on them when they're spying on you
Really get into it. Burn some incense with your door open and chant nonsensical, gutteral words when they pass by. Essentially, scare the crap out of them. They'll leave you alone, I'll bet. ;-)

23. My freeper sister is a Pagan
I scanned the messages that was left about me and I'm going to give them to my sister to cast a spell on. I have never been the type of person that takes revenge but I am so sick of the trashy old sots that I am going to hand the messages to my Sisters group of Pagan friends and tell them to cast a spell on the biotches (I don't believe in spells) but you never know the spell just might work because the old saying is what comes around goes around.

Thanks for the idea. :D

16. I can understand no pets in a building
lots of buildings have that rule. But, no babies? Really? That's against the rules? Where do you live??????? Auschwitz?

Seriously, I live in a busy-body co-op. My husband and I bought our apartment last spring, and it seems like everyone here has their nose in everyone else's business. I pretty much stay out of building politics and stuff, and I keep to myself. So far, so good for me.

But people will complain about the darnedest things! Really! (Luckily, we are allowed pets, because I want to get a dog soon!)

20. Have you looked at rental ads?
Some of them will take dogs only or cats only and some of them will not take children under a certain age. I'm not sure how legal it is but most of the apartments in this building are one bedroom and they don't want children in here. I didn't know that children weren't allowed until the baby complaint happened.

22. My grandmother is like this
I lived with my grandparents in high school. When I came home, my grandma would tell me everything that happened at every house that she could see out the window. I didn't know these people, she didn't know these people. Why did I care that the cheerleader bitch across the street (who wouldn't give me time of day) was sneaking her boyfriend in and ditching school while her parents were at work? Did she tell the girl's parents what their little darling was up to? Nope...just needed something to talk about. I remember when my brother was born, I stayed with them while my mom was in the hospital for a week (complicated thing), and I went to work with her. She and her friends met at a restaurant for breakfast in downtown Houston...they would all sit there and make comments about the people walking by (she needs a bra)...Some people just thrive on this stuff.
