Didn't I ever tell you about Bumbles? Bumbles bounce! |

Rudolph The red Nosed Reindeer I don't care if it is a sexist outdated story (created only to encourage shopping at Wards) that praises conformity and ostracizing anyone who isn't "normal." I watch it every year. I love Yukon Cornelious, "The Greatest Prospector of the North."

6. what do you think Hermie and Yukon did while Rudolph was gone |
|
All that time alone in the cold north. If he was repressed, Hermie would have brought him out.

Are you trying to say there is no magic in this world and that Christmas snow will not bring to life the magestic snowman I buildin my yard every year.
You must be kidding. There must be magic in the world.

5. Praises Conformity? Rudolph Has A RED NOSE! |
|
but he eventually gets pride of place because of his non-conformity.
And we have a more immediate and postive idea of what a toy pistol that squirts jam looks like than a regular one after watching that cartoon.
:)

non-comformity helps others. Until he was needed to guide the sled, they still wouldn't let him play any reindeer games.

10. Yes, But the Movie Doesn't PRAISE Conformity |
|
It shows the negative side of forced conformity. And the nonconformist characters prevail.

Just because Burl Ives narrates Rudolph's father proclaiming of the search, "This is (a) man's work!" ... ?
Even back around 1966 or 1968, the day after the show was on TV, all us wise-ass second and third and fourth graders would quote that line to each other, in our deepest manly-man voices. It became a yearly ritual.
We thought it was a hoot, that anyone would treat girls that way. Besides, Rudolph's dad was an obnoxious prick.
--p! This is Liberals' work!

That line is so sexist it hurts to think about it now. I remember the first tiem I watched the film as an adult, I was shocked when I heard the line. It still bothers me.
