it's a small world after all, even for Freepers
I must admit that I do check out the posts over at Free Republic. You must know what the opposition is up to. There was an interesting post about our good friends at Walmart. Concerning their business practices and the flat Christmas sales last week. You would think that marketplace fundamentalism would rule the day, but I was surprised to find that just as many Freepers hate wally world as do DUers. And many for the same reasons. So discounting the real 'blow-up-the world-loons' and the really gooned up religious zealots on the site, is there hope for common ground? Please call me Pollyanna, but I do think that when Americans can seek the common ground, that is what makes us truly a great country.

3. True conservatives mourn the death of mom and pop stores and
the centralization of life in general.

5. I went to Freeprland ONCE and when I saw...
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 06:09 PM by Winamericaback
A post about homosexuality and the poster had made comments about the AMA saying that homosexualty was NOT a disorder

another poster replied "The owner of this site does not want to further the homosexual agenda, please go somewhere else"

I decided that I would turn red and scream if a went back.. its not worth slogging through all the asses to find the few that have intelligence and can see the forest for the trees.

6. The big difference

is that they may hate Walmart for the same reasons we do...

but that is where they go shopping.

9. When they have no choice
Remember wally world goes to places that are short on other retail options. I've got a choice, I can go to Dallas or Fort Worth to another retailer. I've been waiting all week to buy a network switch. Tomorrow I'll have time to go to Fort Worth to buy it instead of the local wally world. But we all know that the farther you go down the income chain, the fewer the choices become.

14. No, there was shopping in small towns BEFORE
Wallmart.

They were small mom & pop retail stores, the local hardware store
and drug store and so on. Every small town had these... and they
were owned and operated by neighbors.

Wallmart was cheaper and had more selection (but mostly of imported
crap).

THEY chose to shop Wallmart... and cut off their nose to spite their
face.

7. everybody
I know, liberal, and conservative, hates walmart. They are way too crowded, salespeople are rude, and the wait is forever to check out. I last went to walmart years ago, and that was my experience and based on that, I never went back. And that was before I knew all the other stuff about them.

8. Walmart is the enemy for all americans
winston this is the middle ground. Good paying American jobs...I don't have a problem trading with other countries that play by the same rules that we have to play by...like Germany or Japan, but China is the problem. This commie country who floods our markets with cheap commodities that are made by sweat labor and children is sickening. We have to unite! I am not against free trade I just want fair trade. Walmart stocks 70% percent of their store with Chinese commie products. We can and will rally around this. How dare they fly the American Flag outside their store? It was probably made in China too.

12. Don't blame just the Chinese
They have an aggressive, abusive partner in walmart. China is so desperate and greedy for hard currency they de-value their own money and allow their population to be sold into slave labor. Good old wally world is right there preaching the gospel of marketplace fundamentalism. The walmart disease is spreading

11. Yes I think there is common ground.
It's hard to reach what with all their wanting to force women to be incubators and keep taxes low for the rich and whatnot, but it's still iportant to strive for.

13. But it's worth working toward
People can see the light. Working men and women will someday realize the massive con that's been put over. A lot of smoke blown up their butts about values and morals while these thieves in office bleed them white. When they talk to me about morality I come right back at them with economic and foreign policy. Things they've never thought about.

15. The Freepers are fed a straight diet of hate
they differ from us only because the true nature of what most people want on this planet is being put into the hate blender of greed. The word they feed everyone everywhere is WAR makes Money, sure people die and and loose thier limbs and minds, but shit thats the cost of wealth for the royalty out there.
The Wall-Mart brought cheap goods to rural America, sooner or later the freepers learn that it isn't about 10$ sneakers,it's about thier cousin's shoe store closing down.
It is odd that we care for America when people are being told that we hate America, soon they will learn it isn't us that is the problem, till then we have to suffer .
