Question on attraction for all DUers

Do you find yourself attracted to people of different races and cultures?
If so, what is your gender, sexual orientation and race/culture, and what race/culture are you drawn to? Has it caused any problems?

EDIT: To be more specific, do you have "a thing" for a certain culture -- not that there is anything wrong with that.

I've been attracted to many different people for many different reasons - never simply because they were a particular race or culture.

I am attracted to almost any "type" race, culture. It was a problem once. The Portugese girl I was dating in universtiy was moved back to Portugal by her parents to get her away from me. I've dated, etc Ukrainian, Italian, Japanese, Irish, Scots, East Indian, Carribean, Chinese and no other issues I can recall.

I am a straight, white female. I am most attracted to men of any Latin American background, but also to black men and Native Americans, and also mixed races. I like people who are different from me, who have cultural differences, who see things in a different way... I am also a sucker for a sexy accent!;-)

I don't exclusively date other races, but if I see someone who makes my pulse race, it's most likely someone from another ethnicity than mine.

The only problem it ever caused was fights with my mom when I dated a black man. But we didn't stay together long (for other reasons), and mom got over it. She didn't have any issues with Hispanics.


edited after your clarification: my *thing* is for different cultures in general. I like to be with men who are different from me. I find that very interesting, from a variety of cultures.

I was married to a man from Sri Lanka and we really had no issues at all. I was concerned when he moved to PA with me from New York because we lived in a very rural area. But there was very little backlash regarding his ethnic difference. Sure, there were a few assholes who had to be difficult but not many. I remember after 9/11 I was really worried about people being stupid because he looks Middle Eastern. But the people of our community were very supportive of him.

Im female and I am mostly heterosexual, with a very healthy amount of bi curiousity, though I have never tried it. Regarding cultures, I am white and could find myself attracted to any culture except the redneck country music type hicky guy. If I was to be stuck on a desert island.. hmmmm.. I like darker men.. and blonde men too. DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE??? I dont think I have a "type" that I like best. I like them all. Race/culture is way less important than the smile, and the eyes.

I'm a white woman and think both male and females of Latino heritage are very beautiful. I'm married to a man of American Indian heritage so I would have to say that I am attracted to that as well!

I wouldn't say I have a "thing" for a certain culture but am very interested in people from other countries/cultures. They are like a breath of fresh air!!

The red hair actually comes from Denmark, and the northern part of Great Britain and Ireland were once part of the Danelaw-- a regioned rules by the Danes.

Consequently, the Danes intermarried, and passed the red hair on down the line. And that's why you see a lot of it in Scotland and certain parts of Ireland.

an equal opportunist when it comes to a cultural attraction. I tend to have a strong attraction towards a woman's personality with a strong lean towards an assertive woman with a heart for humanity.

Since my parents are open to anybody I bring home, I really don't have a problem. I on the other hand have been on the other side of the situation. I guess some people still have a narrow view on Hispanic men without really getting to know the person.

Rightly or wrongly redheads come off in public perception as an acquired taste (mmmmm yummy redheads), though to me I was born this way. I never thought I had a "thing" for certain cultures, but as I've mentioned my sister asked quite pointedly why all the celebrities I really like are green eyed brunettes (uh, no they're not sis, Jude Law has BLUE eyes, thank you very much :silly: ).

I do find black guys/hispanic guys/asians attractive as well (Blair Underwood is one of the hottest guys ever in the history of the world.)....I have been interested in guys of every color shape whatever. :shrug:

I do like men from the British Isles (of any color, it's the accent). Not so much Italians/French/rest of Europe, though I wouldn't turn them away either.

Before I married. I dated two Mexican guys. I've also had close Mexican girlfriends. I am married to a white guy now. I don't speak fluent Spanish and I was upset when white people talked badly about Mexicans. Other than that, I seem very accepted by these individual's families.
Besides being attractive physically, I think that their culture is more people based than mainstream American culture. Even though I am introverted, I enjoy close relationships with people.

I do seem to be strongly drawn to men with dark hair and olive skin. It's even more striking if they have lighter eyes, like green or hazel.

I find all sorts of men attractive, though - all different types of looks.

I'm also a sucker for women with extremely pale skin, but very dark hair, and blue eyes. I don't know what that's about.

And I have a thing for Native Americans, both male and female, but that might have to do with a long-lost love/crush with whom I never had the guts to act on my feelings. She was Navajo.

Oh, and I'm your basic American-mutt caucasian, with blonde hair and blue eyes (which, interestingly, I'm almost never attracted to in women, but I am in men). :shrug:
