3. I agree with
your #1 but I adore You Send Me. That would probably be my second. They were all great, he was great.

5. His gospel music was great, too
Get your hands on anything by Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers if you can/haven't already.

Lucky Old Sun (rollin' around heaven all day...) is a worthy choice as well.

6. I was born in Los Angeles
but we had to move to OC when I was in the 5th grade (single mom, no child support. Had to move w/company to keep her job)and I took a newspaper clipping of Sam Cooke's murder to class for 'current events'. I thought it relevant because my mom was so upset by the news.
My teacher didn't like one bit. I was interrupted and told to sit down and he quickly went to the next student.
I hate OC but I love Sam Cooke and I always smile when I hear his songs.

8. Here's a fella in bluejeans....
Dancin' with an older Queen
Who's dolled up in-a diamond rings and
Twistin' the night away-ay

Man, you oughta see her go
Twistin' to the rock and roll
Here you find the young and old
"Twistin' the night away"

10. A Change is Gonna Come. Right in the middle of the civil rights
struggle Sam Cooke lays down that tune. What a timeless masterpiece. It STILL works today.
