4. Trash it
AARP lobbied its members to support the supposed prescription subsidy law that has ended up costing people their lives because their medicine is now so far out of range cost-wise that it's no longer a choice between food and meds. Even if you gave up the food, you still can't afford the meds.

AARP gets no more of my money.

6. I'm with you. When they backed that bill, I could hardly believe
my ears. They sold out every elderly person who really needed their co-operative and collective support.

9. Anti American Repuke Prostitutes AARP
I 'll never join those pig bastards. We should start a UNION of Maturing Americans UMA as a legitimate version of this sham org.

Have you seen their headquarters in Washington DC? Super plush brand new building, high dollar all the way. Your membership dues go to overstuffed leather chairs and executive bonuses. Oh yes and higher drug and health care prices will be the result of their efforts on your behalf.

12. Choices
I cancelled my membership when they screwed the seniors in this country with their support of Bush's ridiculous prescription drug bill.

Prior to that, they were marginally helpful with other senior issues. We qualified for life insurance that we could not otherwise qualify for due to health concerns and maintain those policies. We benefitted from using their legal resources for quality wills and POA documents at a significantly discounted price. Their auto and homeowner insurance offerings quoted higher prices than our existing coverages. BUT, all the good they have ever done was outdone by the evil of supporting this bad legislation.

If you are a senior citizen qualifying for AARP benefits, AND you really need the insurance and legal benefits for your own protection, and can't get that help anywhere else, you may want to consider joining long enough to take advantage of those benefits. If you can avoid it, don't do it, because they are no longer working in the best interests of America's senior citizens on relevant senior issues.
