Thuggish High School Kids say the darnedest things!
I'm riding to work and I get off the 1 train at 50th right behind two high school boys. They have red gang style head wraps and have the generally rough look that youths adopt in tougher neighborhoods. They look like they stepped out of a gangsta rap video.

The first turns to the other, "Did you learn that shit?"

"yep" says the other.

"I don't believe you!"

"I did."

"Prove it!"

And the second boy turns to face him. Suddenly he says slowly and with perfect diction:

"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
the way to dusty death.
Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow; a poor player,
that struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
and then is heard no more!
It is a tale told by an idiot,
full of sound and fury,
signifying nothing."

how poetry and spoken word are becoming so popular among high-school kids nowadays. I thought it was just in my little corner of the world, this story was refreshing.

I work near that intersection. I take the 1/9 line from that station often. Good to hear other DUers are close by.

Great story. I love the scene you set up, and knowing the dirty station, its even better.

I got my hair cut on the downtown bound station in the barber shop two weeks ago. A nice place run by a russian guy.
