The only thing I want to see is "The Aviator," and that's only out of morbid curiousity.

Inviting a group over to watch the extended version of all three in one sitting. Borrow the laptop projector from work and set up a big sheet as the screen and sit on our asses all day.

My son does excellent impressions. When LOTR:FOTR was recently on TV and I was still depressed over the election result, he was doing impressions of all the LOTR major characters and giving them an '04 political twist.
Gollum/Smeagol was the undecided Ohio voter (and that didn't turn out well at all, did it precious!)
The Nazgul were "They were Democrats once, then Bush the Deceiver gave to them nine rings of power. At all times the feel the pull of Bush's evil power and must obey."
We couldn't agree on who Kerry was. Way too tall to be a Hobbit, too just not right for anyone else. Thoughts?
Oh well, I thought it was funny. Your mileage may vary.

Flawed, fought bravely but failed in the end?
(assuming the voter fraud isn't proven in time to overturn the results...)
Also, realize I've only seen the movies, never read the books, so my impressions of the characters are entirely based on the movies...

Boromir. Failed and killed in the first movie. Means there are sequels! It gets worse (oh dear!) then better. Then, we win!
Okay, I can live with that. Anything but Frodo. Cuz, he's waaaaaaaay too tall. (Ever have one of those incredibly stupid but really intereting discussions with someone that you know you shouldn't have but you do anyway cuz it's just too good? It's like that.)

19. I could imagine Kerry as Faramir ... |

He dutifully went out and served, in an unjust war -- was wounded -- and ultimately won the heart of a fierce warrior woman from a land to the east, even though a lot of people thought he was boring and lacked charisma.
