Working from home: How does your pet cope?
My cat Pad Thai doesn't understand the concept of "Working from Home". He is treating me like his personal toy today. Ever try to work around something like this?

10. That could be
he took one in his mouth this morning and took it out in the living room and "killed it" fortunately it was retrieved without much harm.

6. I have a second job
As a Doorman for dogs. When they wanna go in the yard, they tell me.
If they wanna come in, they tell me. All day long.

They can tell time too. At exactly 9:00 am, if they haven't been fed yet, they let me know about that too.

The only break I get, is if I sneak over to the golf course for a few beers and lunch.

7. You have to have regularly scheduled play times
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 03:26 PM by SiouxJ
and in my case, walk times. My dogs are pretty good. They know that once I sit down at the computer, I'm not gonna play. They may come over and say hello now and then but they know the routine. In the summer we go for our walk around 7 a.m. (just after I check my email). In the cold months we wait until it warms up and go around noon. Then later in the day, we have "rope and ball" playtime (one likes the rope, one likes the ball) for about 20 minutes. If I put that off too long they start to bug me but other than that they are very well behaved.

oh, and if you have dogs and work at home, I highly recommend a dog-door. Keeps accidents from happening.

8. One copes quite well.
She curls up in one of the office chairs and pretty much sleeps all day. Once in a blue moon, she'll get in my lap Ñ which makes working at the computer awkward, to say the least.

However, the other cat is forbidden to enter the office, since the two cats do not get along at all. In the late afternoon, this ostracized cat sits outside the glass doors and whines and whines until I can't stand it anymore.

9. I know it well...
I had one cat, of the indoor/outdoor variety. It worked perfectly. He didn't get bored, and would come and visit me periodically throught the day.

Then things changed, I got a job away from home and didn't want him to be lonely, so got him a friend and made him an indoor cat. Then things changed again, and now I work at home and have the two cats all over me. First cat wants to go outside and lets me know rather vocally. So yes, I put a harness on him and we walk around outside. So much fun walking a cat! The other one sits on the monitor with his tail hanging down the center.

I thought cats were supposed to sleep all day?

12. Paddy likes going outside too
and I've let him out for a few short trips this morning. Trouble is I don't let him go unsupervised so I'm always checking on him, so I limit his trips when I'm working.

Lily is a very laid back cat, but then she's 13 years old and sleeps alot. She just comes to greet me now and then. But Paddy is my "baby" and either wants to be on my shoulder or on the mouse pad.

13. The whole world is this little cat's toy
Finally he's asleep now in the chair. When I go off the clock I might be able to sneak out to the store for a while.
