Should Anderson Cooper have a huge Coming Out SPECIAL?
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 04:14 PM by Placebo

After his little verbal slip up with Jerry Fallwell the other day.

Think of the ratings! THE RATINGS!

4. *Ahem*
But then, have you noticed that you never, ever have seen him doing commercials for toasters or scarves?

That's closeted. Boy Howdy.

8. yes and his momma is gloria vanderbilt the famous "designer"
and filthy rich heiress.
I don't think Anderson is too worried, he hasn't been pretending to date women. Last I heard he was living in chelsea and looking for a "date or partner" or something non-gender specific like that.

22. His mother may have the name
Vanderbilt, but she did not inherit any of the family money. Her father, Reggie Vanderbilt, basically spent everything he had.

Gloria herself has had an odd life, with her mother losing custody in a nasty public court battle when Gloria was about ten. She went to live with the aunt who started the custody fight but then never paid any attention to her.

I'm not suggesting you feel sorry for her, but at least understand she hasn't skated through life because of inherited millions.

23. You mean she had to work for a living like the rest of us?
Didn't she just marry money, do it again, and then license her name? Or have I got the wrong gal?

25. Yeah, she's worked for a living,
even if not exactly the same way as the rest of us. She married money, although not big money, divorced -- I think she's been married four times altogether. At one point a dishonest manager basically cheated her out of all her money and she had to start all over again.

I realize that she's still been quite privileged, and between her famous name and all the people she's known from the beginning, she's had tremendous advantages that most of us don't get. But she's still worked hard and has had some genuine tragedy in her life. One of her sons fell from her apartment -- she tried to stop him but was unable -- and died. It seems to have been an accidental suicide (as opposite to deliberate intention to die).

As for Cooper Anderson, being the son of Gloria Vanderbilt has surely been a huge advantage. He probably would never have gotten his foot in the door where he is were it not for the name. But he's done a credible job. It's just that a lot of us would do equally well were we given the leg-up that people like him (and his mom) get.

7. Who gives a shit?
In general, I don't care about someone's sexual orientation. The exception to that is hypocritical right wing in the closet gays.

10. people who think he's cute care. and he is cute!
and if after a few years of success he came out, that could help public acceptance. Sexual issues ain't always about bigotry, thank god!

20. Hell, I'm straight and think he's cute.
If he had a mangina, I'd :spank: it.

As long as he didn't ask for cuddle-time afterwards. He looks like the cuddle craving type. Arggh, I hate that (don't mind cuddling, just that I rarely ever got cuddle reciprocation).

21. Yes, and prior to that he was an anchor on World News Tonight...
Or whatever the news show was that seemed to last for an eternity, beginning around 2 AM. This is back in 1999. I fucking hate 1999. I will never let that year, or a date within, pass my lips again.

17. Still a corporate whore...
I could care less what he does with his willie.

Wealth & privilege buy a lot of things in life, but certainly don't buy integrity.

If he ever makes a stand on his news-show-lite (the CNN equivalent of E! News), I'll reconsider my opinion.

Till then, sorry. He doesn't do it for me.
