Favorite Christmas Song
Mine is A Fairytale of New York by the Pougues

I love it because it shows no matter how miserable your life has become, how destitute and devoid of happiness you are, how despicable you have been to your loved ones, somewhere, someplace and at some time you had a mildly pleasant thought or experience about Christmas...

Second, I believe in Father Christmas

2. I'll go with O Holy Night, as well.
It's simply beautiful, when done right. And it's a hard song to sing.

5. "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire"
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 08:18 PM by donheld

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright,
Tiny tots with their eyes all a-glow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh,
And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it's been said
Many times, Many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

6. I love that song in Handel's Messiah
about the lambs. It's a beautiful piece sung either by a high male or lower female voice. I've heard it sung by many people, but the one I cherish in my listening memory is one I heard a young alto sing in my local church.

9. Da-who Dorays, Fa-who Forays
Welcome Christmas
Bring your cheer
Fa-who Forays, Da-who Dorays
To all the Whos both far and near

Welcome, welcome
Fa-who-rah-mus
Welcome, welcome
Da-who-rah-mus
Christmas Day is in our grasp
So long as we have hands to clasp

Da-who Dorays, Fa-who Forays
Welcome Christmas, while we stand
Fa-who Forays, Da-who Dorays
Heart to heart, and hand in hand

Welcome, welcome
Fa-who-rah-mus
Welcome, welcome
Da-who-rah-mus
Christmas Day will always be
Just as long as we have we

*sniff, sniff*

That one always makes me a little misty.

16. Father Christmas by The Kinks
When I was small I believed in santa claus
Though I knew it was my dad
And I would hang up my stocking at christmas
Open my presents and I’d be glad

But the last time I played father christmas
I stood outside a department store
A gang of kids came over and mugged me
And knocked my reindeer to the floor

They said:
Father christmas, give us some money
Don’t mess around with those silly toys.
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
We want your bread so don’t make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

Don’t give my brother a steve austin outfit
Don’t give my sister a cuddly toy
We don’t want a jigsaw or monopoly money
We only want the real mccoy

Father christmas, give us some money
We’ll beat you up if you make us annoyed
Father christmas, give us some money
Don’t mess around with those silly toys

But give my daddy a job ’cause he needs one
He’s got lots of mouths to feed
But if you’ve got one, I’ll have a machine gun
So I can scare all the kids down the street

Father christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

Have yourself a merry merry christmas
Have yourself a good time
But remember the kids who got nothin’
While you’re drinkin’ down your wine

Father christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
We want your bread, so don’t make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys

21. Stevie Wonder has a great Christmas song
but I can't remember the name right now.

It's so annoying that stupid songs like Feliz Navidad and Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time are played *over and over* again and a great song like the Stevie Wonder Christmas song is played so seldom that I can't think of the name off the top of my head.
