What is with the necklace
Okay, a new woman stared at work today. Young about 24 years old.
She is wearing black dress pants and a normal "office sweater" everything looks okay

EXCEPT A BIG ASS CROSS NECKLACE IS HER ONLY JEWELRY.

A silver cross - not goth - not trendy -

It just stuck out. Well what is with that?

I know teen girls sometimes have a dainty cross.

But why did she have to wear the big cross to work her first day?

I need a new job

1. Matthew 6:5-6
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

She's not following the words of Jesus.

5. ctrl/c + ctrl/v nice little spiel for hypocrites
thnx. Aptly describes the smug gits who walk past my house on their way to church on a Sunday morning. Some of 'em carry bibles, not out of piety, but as a signal to the world.

2. Amazing how the cross...
makes people so uncomfortable. Just about every time I am discriminated against or harassed, I see the person wearing a cross. Too bad the reepers hijacked the meaning of it right along with the American flag.

7. I have never gotten that
If Jesus was to drop back down to Boise tomorrow and saw that all his houses of worship had him hangin on a wall nailed to a board I think he'd be a little pissed.

the money changers and those who were making a profit out of the temple.

According to the story, anyway.

9. Here Is the Scoop
The cross is a symbol representing that Jesus died for us. It doesn't mean that he was killed and that we are happy about it... in reference to the gun pendent around the neck of someone mourning Kennedy, Lincoln, King Jr. Just clearing things up...

11. I get the symbol but...........
Couldn't it be a symbol of him rising from the dead?
Or
Walking on water
or
a turned cheek
or
a manger
or
some cool sandals?

12. wouldn't a live, healthy jesus be a better way, or praying hands perhaps?
i realize what it is supposed to represent, but the reality is it "the cross" is what caused jesus' death, the crucifiction, just like what killed MLK, JFK was a bullet and a gun...just the scoop back at ya to clear things up...

the cause of his death is what is used to represent him, and i personally don't get why that is the choice....

14. Thanks and..
Thanks for all the responses. Some things to think about.

I had to phone my oldest church going friend to get her spin. After the usual chit chat she just let it all go. She is very down on her organized religion now. She said she feels they are hypocrites because they have no good actions in their lives except walking into church for an hour every Sunday. She thinks people need to be helping in the soup lines or with the shelters etc. It was all very good to hear, plus she did vote for the good guy. Old friend - nice surprise!!

Now here is another thing....When I wear mt fav peace shirt...I get a nod, smile or some such sign of approval from like minded people. Are the neo-christians doing the same when the see someone approaching wearing the large (not to be missed) cross necklace?
