It's interesting... I don't think I have ever seen photographs and video from within the community before the mass suicide.

1. I was well acquainted with someone who died

at Jonestown.

She lived two doors down from me on my corridor my freshman year in college. She was in my French class.

While we were never close friends, she was a friend of some of my friends, and someone I interacted with frequently over the four years I was at school.

She joined the church in San Francisco, where she was a social worker. Some of her friends thought she was way too impassioned over that church. And she told people she was sleeping with Jones, too. I know he abused the women of the church.

I have seen pictures of her with children at Jonestown. The pictures were recovered by the FBI.

Her father was an important person in the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church. Our school had a memorial service for her after she died. One of my other friends brought up and discussed with me her death very recently. It was a very shocking thing.

2. I've seen clips and documentaries off and on in the almost 30 yrs since.

There was even a docu-drama mini-series.

Talk about feeding off human tragedy.

This was early 80's-ish I think.
