What do you know about St. Kitts & Nevis
I know nothing, tried googling and learnt virtually nothing.

4. St Kitts is much larger than Nevis
There was a secession movement when we were there about ten years ago.

Nevis wanted to secede.

The main industry is tourism (then nutmeg I think). The fanciest resorts are on Nevis and therefore so is the money. The economy is completely dependent on the resorts including all-inclusive resorts which don't allow tipping. Thousands work in service jobs at the resorts.

People seemed poor, but not nearly as poor as they seemed in Jamaica.

That's something anyway.

The population is almost entirely black if I remember right.

5. What happens if you try to tip?
Will the management take away the tip money? will the worker get fired? Did you try and tip at all?

I'm just curious about this, cause I live in a culture where tipping is not even considered...

6. Oh you must live in the midwest...
;)

Midwesterners, especially the breakfast crowd, are notoriously poor tippers, according to popular legend. Fundamentalists are the worst of all, btw. They run you like a dog and often leave bible tracts instead of tips I have read. Ouch.

7. Cheap bastards
My parents retired and bought a place in Myrtle Beach, SC. My mother was bored and got a job in a restraunt, waiting tables. After doing all kinds of extra work for some people, she saw they had left a 27 cent tip. She picked it up, and ran after them shouting "Yoo-hoo, you forgot to pick up your 27 cents on the table". Embarrassed the fuck out of them.

3. english speaking.
i know that because of my history of the english language class. i had to learn which countries spoke english as a primary language, and which ones spoke it as a secondary language with over half the population fluent in english.

8. They are beautiful islands, intensely green.
Nevis has general farming; St. Kitts is a center for sugar cane farming.

St. Kitts also has Brimstone Hill, which is known as the Gibraltar of teh Caribbean.
