12. I hate to keep defending him, but...

He is a democrat and in Oklahoma he's made a big difference for the us. He supported Bush for pres--what else would you expect--but in state politics, he's helped our Dem Governor get elected and our only Dem Congressman-Dan Boren.

Take away his career in show biz--I wouldn't call him a singer--and He is perfectly emblematic of the average Southern Democrat.

If we want to win any part of the South, this is kind of person we have to communicate with.

Believe it or not, the Toby Keith style Democrat is prime for the Democratic message.

What they are:
Not so well educated but also not stupid.
Probably have a close relative in the military and in Iraq
Already tired of the war but confused about how you remain a patriot and don't support the it--Dean's message doesn't fly with them.
Getting really squeezed by Bush's economic "policies"
Getting tired of Bush and starting to get that the GOP is lying to them.
Probably members of an evangelical congregation

What they aren't:
Members of the Klan or any more bigoted than people that live in blue states
Toothless, dumb ass, rednecks
Mindless GOP automatons

I won't defend Ted. He's got few redeeming qualities after recording his eponymous album.
